need to check the throttle linkage at the carb. if its fourstroke it will be a butterfly valve and there will be an external rotor wheel moon the cable turns to open and close throttle sometimes they can be a bit sticky, the throttle returns but the external rotor wheel/disc sticks and the rpm just climbs upwards.

if its twostroke there could be a sticky throttle slide in the carb its traveling up but a weak internal spring may not have enough force to push the slide back down fully and again this results in a creeping rpm

Yeah one of the 1st things I checked was sticky cable or carb but all returns fine on release so I'm thinking it could be sticky internals will have to strip the carb when the sun comes back out and it's a four stroke btw

    Update .....
...found out the carb to head boot had split on the underside and seemed to only leak when I sat on the bike good news is it's an easy fix ...bad news the part for my bike is £50-£70 For a rubber ......so good old gasket maker and self fusing tape topped with a jubilee clip it is lol
