    I passed my CBT the otherday and bought a SYM symply 2. I had the scooter for a day and in the morning it wouldn't start up, so I took it back to the dealer and it's still in the garrage (for a week). I think I'm going to get a refund, because i'm paying for something im not able to use.

    I'm 17 and did my CBT on a 50cc scooter but I'm interested in a 125cc geared bike, the only thing is, i've never been on one before, what do you suggest i do?

    Also what bike would you recommend which is fairly cheap on insurance and good on miles? I have £1k to spend

    Cheers

    Cagiva mito and aprilia RS125 are both great little bikes, very fast. Unfortunatly maintenance is very high and so is insurance costs.

    Here they are;

    Both will do about 110mph derestricted but that's your own risk on a CBT.

    For reliability I'd go for a 4 stroke, they are really low maintenance, cheap, reliable and cheap to insure. The Yamaha yzf125r is a good option if you want a sportbike style bike;

    Or you could go for a supermoto style wr125x

    Thanks for the replys, I've been looking at the yzf125r it looks really nice, wish I had 4k to splash out on a new one and it's pretty hard to find them second hand!

    Do you know any good other sports bikes that I could pick up for around 1k? I'm looking for a 4 stroke as they're better on fuel.

    Also whats your opinion on chinese import bikes?

    The RGV125s aren't abad bike for the money if you find a good one. They do require a bit of work as they're 2 stroke....but if you look after them and run good quality 2 stroke oil they'll last for ages and require no more than a set of piston rings every 10-12000 miles

    The older RD125LC are also a great machine for a starter..again, need to find a good one as there's loads of ratters about

    For ultimate reliability, theres always the CG125 4 stroke, they'll go forever if the engine oils changed frequently and they're cheap to insure as they're classed as a commuter and not a sports bike

    It all depends what you're after
