This has probably been asked a thousand times before, but here goes.....Just got a 2011 Baotian BT49QT-9 with a genuine 540 miles on the clock.....going for MOT on Tuesday, and then I plan to de-restrict it.....the general feeling is that to do this you either unplug, or snip, the pink wire going to the CDI unit, and also remove something from the carb. to allow more fuel through, this is supposed to give a speed of about 40 or 45 miles an hour....is this correct ? and can I do any damage to the bike by doing this ?.....any thoughts appreciated....
Thanks.....it would seem that all an un-restricted CDI unit is, is a normal one with 5 connections, instead of 6.....the missing connection being the speed limiter, or pink wire, I guess this is why some people just unplug the pink wire, or even snip it.....I shall do it properly and send for one....
Thanks, Just done that, pulled the pink wire out, rather than snip it.....can't really tell if it's done any good, because I can't go out on test until Tuesday, when I take it for MOT......also had a look in the carburettor, but can't see any restrictions in there, the circlip is on the middle groove of the needle......we shall see.....
Thanks, I guess we will find out on Tuesday......one more thing, how the hell do you pronounce BAOTIAN ?......is it BOW TION ??....
