    Hi,

Just wanting to ask a question my scooter is an absolute pain to start in the morning.

I'll hold the elec start in and it will just turn and turn and turn and.. turn, I'll try with revs on and it wont fire.

After doing this for a few minutes it will fire It will respond to revs then die it will do this a couple times then it is fine.

I know the engine will be cold and will need warmed up but should it really take that long to start on a morning?

After the initial starting on a morning it is more or less fine!

one other think after I have been riding and i knock the engine off I can hear a faint backfire is that normal?

    thanks

What scooter is it? Check the choke unit to make sure it's working.

Well it fell to about -3 -4 here last night and it took 10minutes to start this morning, but I'm struggling to find out how I can test my choke to see if that i the culprit but I'll end up burning my statermotor out if it keeps going this way!

On my choke (bystarter) i have ti measure the operating range between the leads using a multimetre.
Try not to use the e/start more than 20sec.per,generally i'd have given it a quick burst just to get the juices
flowing and usually started no probs. on kick.

I tried giving it a few bursts to get the fuel flowing and things and then tried kicking it, but no luck it wasnt until after 10 minutes of elec start and kicking it turned over on a kick! I never got to the bottom of my problem today as my speedo cable came and I had some other stuff to do! going to get it into the workshop at college on monday get my tyre changed and will have the guidance of my tutor! he used to be lambretta boy back in the day! soo hopefully get something sorted
