Ok so a week ago I brought a PM tuning endurance crank and street race stage 6 70cc kit for my sr. Already I have done 300 km riding no more than 40 mph, you know easy to run it in. But how many km or miles more I need to do to run engine, crank and bearings in? I heard that about 800 miles and no more than 40 mph. And another Question. I leave my standard 17,5 carb in there upjetted, but I left the airbx in as well. Maybe open air filter? Or stay with the air box? In the box I have the polini foam filter. I think later on I will have to drill holes in the box for it to get more air. Now im riding on 78 jet. (biggest one I found in my ped parts).Because she is gonna be upjetted any way.
300-500 miles people say different people have different opinions. some say full throttle then let it cool down and repeat etc. like i said different opinions but the running in is usually 300-500miles
No you would pretty much never full throttle an iron kit in the run in period. Iron kits and aluminium kits have different run in procedures. It's not about not going over a speed it's more about varying rpm's, warming it up properly, making sure it doesn't get too hot by not going on long rides during the run in period etc etc. Lot's more information if you use the search.
with kits like that i would not go over 1/4 throttle for the 1st 50miles then take it upto half throttle for about 100 more miles but as terro said its all about getting the bike warm up properly and not makeing sure its not getting to hot and not only i all ways run pre mix so i will just add a bit more oil in when running in to for the 1st tank
Now i have done 500 km on it. I was warming it up before any rides, but i was going on the longer rides too. The cynlinder seems to run fine. I was going on the full throttle few times, just to see how fast its accelerating.
