Hi guys just wondering what you think of this plug colour I'd say it's running lean and that's with a 98 main jet on a speedfight 2 100cc thanks

Yeah, I'd take the jet size up one notch to a 102, just to be on the safe side.

98 is the biggest I've got at the minute I'll order another 1 would a 104 be to big

And now when it's warm it's a nightmare to start and backfires out the exhaust is that down to it being lean

Exactly. A 104 jet might work with the needle set at the top groove, try it. A lean engine sounds very tinny and WAAAAAA!! in engine tone, an engine with the right mixture sounds a lot less harsh.

Try it anyway, the worst that will happen is the bike will bog down a bit. You won't do any lasting harm.

I got the 104 main jet and like you said it bogs down only on start up so going to order 2 more a 100 and 102 the bike has started doing strange things
    1. if I start it in the morning it starts but cuts out after a few seconds so I have to keep starting it and give it a little rev I have to do this a few times before it will ideal ok
    2. After riding 20 min I turn it off and it stays running for about 3-4 seconds it only happens every now and again If I leave it to go in the shop for 5 min it's a nightmare to start but eventually it will start please can anyone help me on what the problem could be thanks
Just took the head off to have a look at the cylinder and found a little mark inside I can't feel any grooves though but I can move the piston about half a mm either way is this normal as it's a new piston and cylinder done about 30 miles

That cylinder bore looks OK to me, I've seen worse that still run OK.

The slight clearance you mention with the piston gets taken up, as the engine gets warm and the piston expands a little. Try adding 1% 2T oil to the fuel, as Peugeots tend to run a little low on the oil ratio at 33:1 and they run a lot better at 20 to 25:1. Adding some oil to the petrol will make a difference in the engine running a little cooler and might stop the stalling problem. I always add between 1 and 2% 2T oil to the fuel, as a smoky exhaust is preferable to a seized engine.

that mark on the barrel is the start of a 4 point score/ or a heat seizure, its been ridden too hard when its cold, or your running it too lean, get a bigger jet in there or you will loose compression. 1% is 1ml to 100ml or 10ml to 1000ml (a teaspoon to a litre) in my head it is anyway
there are apps for phones that work it out, thats what i use, much easier than guessing, after a while of running premix you get to know how much wthout measuring...

Seams like I have 2 options to either get a bigger jet pack size 100 to 122 or change the carb and start again the carb i have now is a gurtner py

Ok so I've been emailing ped parts and they have said the 104 and 102 jet is to big and and with it running lean with these jets in means I've got an air leak somewhere but I've sprayed wd40 everywhere while the bike is running and there is no change in the rev it dosent rev up or bog down any suggestions as to what to try next would be great thanks guys

Could my air filter be the cause of it running lean
