Dads got a point but this is more likely with four stroke engines or fully synth oil (used to run Transit engines in using old oil :)

Got to remember that the oil lubes the mains and little end bearings as well as the bore and a poor/mediocre quality oil could gum up the rings/foul plugs into the bargain.
Polini 70 is a sport kit (twin ring/cast iron) and we have no problems with bore glazing when running them in on Silkolene Scoot 2 semi-synth.

Wasting your money buying the really fucking expensive £10+ bottles of oil.
Get the cheap stuff next to it!!
Family friend used to work for Shell.
He said that the oil all comes from the same place and is just put into different packaging.
A £2.50 bottle will work just as well a £12.50 bottle.
Unless your running summin like.. 25+bhp with silly amount of port work and are doing sprints then you will obviously be a bit more carefull.
But yeee, just for a sport set up cheap oil will do fine.

ur m8 worked at an oil factory? where does this shit come from?

synthetic oil is NOT the same as mineral oil :confused::confused: most STUPID thing ive ever heard.... so shell 3 quid a bottle is the same as the fully synth equvilant? smell feel and look at it u tit

run GOOD semi found at a cheap price.. i pay 3 quid a litre.. but its GOOD semi. only ever run fully at meets (on the few i attend of course)

depends... i use the ceaper stuff as if a crank lasts a year the saving in oil pays for the next one.

Wasn't my direct mate. Was one of my dads old mates.
What I was saying was, that if there is a £3 bottle of semi-synth and a £10 bottle of semi-synth there is no point wasting £7 getting the more expensive one.

well there is.. especially if the 3 quid bottle isnt injector oil (as in for oil pumps) some oil is JUST for premix.. sone you cant use for premix.. be carefull and read the bottle.. yes you can get cheap oil thats good but NOT all cheap oil is good.. most of its shit

    Thanks minor....

Wolffy... dont thing id trust your dads mates advise....

To quote an aussie radio talk back show...."oils aint oils"

anyway... so the silkolene scoot semi synthetic is a reasonable oil then?
