just wondering if a drive belt needs to kinda get run it. because i just got a new polini Kevlar one, fitted it last night tested it by just throttleing it when it was one the stand and was fine. then this morning took it out and it wud only rev to about 5k which is like 15-20 mph. so i stopped put it on the stand on it wud rev just over 11k. so i sat back on it took it off the stand and it wud only do the 5k. got about a mile and it loosened up a bit going to about 7k revs, which is about 35-40mph which is alright but before i fitted the new belt it used to get to 10k revs any ideas? is it just because it is Kevlar?
i got into an arguement about a similar thread on another forum!!! i have found that the performance is usually a little wooly for a day or 2 after fitting a new kevlar belt... couldnt tell you about revs as ive got no rev counter....but it does seem a bit of a dramatic drop off in performance youve got there!! if its no better in a day youll have to whip the tranny cover off and investigate
well it shud wear in or loosen up or wat eva travelling to work seems its ten miles each way. or if not i'll check on it a couple of days time
You shouldnt really be revving up your bike on the stand til over 11k.. And from my experiance new kevlar belts take about 200km to wear in. If your still on a stock cylinder theres not realy any need for a kevlar belt..better grip so more drag and you dont get the power(lol from the 50 cyl) to the wheel.. Clutch springs and lighter rollers will help a bit tho..
i got it with the 70cc kit just i fitted it first. getting bore done 2moz. so ur saying that with the 70 it should work fine? no need to change the rollers or clutch springs?
