its so hard to run in a 50

the key is to making sure the jettinga dn oil setting is spot on

but the 70 is much faster so it will be worth it

if i were u,n it on for 100 miles at 1/4 throttle, then bump ot up to like 1/2 throttle for say another 100 miles, then id just have fun but try to take it easy and not full throttle for long periods of time till youve done the 300 miles, then should be fine

yep dats true as long as your sensible i dun 100 miles straight at 30mph never leting it rev high after that you will feel and notice it runs smoother and then after that be gentle with it till your up to the 300 mile mark, i run mine in for about 450 miles coz i couldent wait any longer and mine was sweet till it was straped off
jus stick to quiet long roads lol :D

lol yer bud i took it easy for 300 miles then absoutly canned it for 5000 miles, im now doing a 172 conversion and when i took the 70 engine out and checked out the barrel is was pristine mate.

Run it in good, wind out oil pump, run on decent oil, let it warm up and yourbe fine, also get someone who knows what there doing to fit it.

Have a look through older posts and use the search or something bud all your questions have been asnwerd 100's of times before ;)

honestly its worth it if your sensible running it in like Major Rel14b1lty says warm it up, get the best oil and dont full throttle it for atlest 300 miles you will be fine and you will love it, i would still hav my 70 now but i upgraded to a 180

run in anint about speed its about rpm variation... dont hold max rpm for more than 10 seconds for the first 500 miles..

easy way to run in an iron kit is use heavy as fuck rollers till youve done a few miles.. no temptation and it feels the same

u mite wanna put a cap full of oil in ur petrol tank everytime u fill up just to keep it nice and lubed up and if u need to blast it to get out out trouble or sumat that little bit extra oil will protect the barrel, only do it for first 50-100miles tho coz wont be nessasary after that.

Thats the way I've been running in stuff for the last 20 yrs.

I work in engine hrs though, as marine stuff don't have odometers.

First 1/2 hr, baby it, next 5 hrs, don't exceed 3/4 throttle and keep varying rpms. Don't excessively load it as well.

(Minor, I would be a tad concerned with running heavy rollers as I'm unfamiliar with scooter timing strategy. I would be worried that the engine isn't revving enough to get it to retard, if they actually have a retard curve)

Next 5 hrs, keep varying the rpm's but give it short bursts of full snot every five minutes or so.

Also, (forgot to say) heat cycle it. Once a 1/2 hr or so, let it cool down then warm it up before continuing with the run in.

After 10.5 hrs, go over all the fastenings, (retorque) go back to your desired oil/fuel ratio and do your final jetting/tuning.

Run it a bit fat during the run in but don't drown the engine with fuel as the piston won't expand enough to take the high spots off.

I think of run in as geography class.

If you microscopically look at a freshly machined cylinder or piston, it looks like the Swiss alps. Pointy mountains with valleys in between. After run in, the mountains look like those flat top mesa's you see in cowboy movies. They still have the valleys to migrate oil but the mountain tops are flat and have much less tendency to catch on each other and smear metal.

Also, running in a crank is a load of shit. If a crank takes anymore than warmup to settle in, it's out of true, incorrectly installed or made out of melted down cat food tins in China.

i do a similar run in porocedure ex\xcept i dont resist the temptationn to full throttle just resist the urge to hold it.. i alkso like to build.. idle for 20 with the odd flick here an there then cool... warm up an slow ride round the block, then cool.. heat and fgast ride round block then cool.. now ride as normalm except vary the rpm as much as mpossible and dont hold full throttle too long.. i have an engine readsy to \rag in under an hour unless its iron as they only need to cut the rings an settle the shape of the nicosil..

and yes they do have a retard curv as why else would it have a cdi LOL
