Hi just ordered my new 70 cc cylinder and piston it's aluminium nickel plated how many miles should I do to run it in I've heard so many different miles and am really unsure thanks in advance
I normally just warm em up to temp. Let them cool down then ride as normal never had a problem with aluminium kits
don't think you should give it too much welly at first though.take a few small low speed runs and like the other guy there said ...let it cool down a bit and do a few longer runs but don't load it on the throttle if it don't wanna go
then when your happy its buzzing along nice..open it up..keep an ear on how it sounds and performs and if your happy..and the bikes happy. your done till a dyno run csn be booked and see whats what
thanks hairy jim think i will be safe and go slow for a while i will try and find a place around me were they do the dynos and can tune it for me
a gianelli extra and the carb is a normal speedfight one with a 90 main jet and the cylinder i order was a airsal 70cc sports kit
I normally say to my lot, 100 miles at no more than 30mph, then 100 miles at no more than 35mph and then 100 miles at no more than 40 mph. I also stress that i do not warranty pistons and barrels under any circumstances simply because they are too easy to kill if you don't run it in properly. This normally works, especially when they have spent all their hard earned pocket money on a 70 kit.
trying to find bits to spend my pocket money on..but looks like ile have to perform 12miricles before i can open the golden casket and achieve enlightenment..finding performance parts for old hondas sucks.
I say to my lot, chamfer the ports, chamfer the skirt of the piston, put a tiny bevel on the ends of the rings and then go around the block slowly....... But this is Nikasil - which ain't the same as cast iron......
