hi guys thanks for reply, iv had the hump last few days, dont know wether to just sell it as is and loose money or fix it up? the bike now runs terrible especialy on full throttle misfiring and spluttering, ... the problem is theres no obvious water leaks must be tiny hole. how can i tell if its top or bottom end gasket?? as i dont think id be confident doing bottom end theres valves and stuff allso dont wanna take engine off bike. iv been quoted £350 tower scooter seems expensive to me? it has a 4 rd pipe an the cunt who sold it took baffles out could this cause problems what you guys think i should do first apreciate all help cheers ant
I am in the same frame of mind as you, I bought 3x Runner VX 125's (1 road worthy and 2 are just well I don't want to talk about it lol) I was told by the lad the 1 wasn't riding correctly, so My first thoughts was carb related. it was.....There was a valve on the float boal that was corroded and wasn't squirting anymore - fixed now she did run fine. Used it for Work For 3 day's......Popped out on it just and noticed the temp Gauge and the Coolant tank hissing at me.....checked the OIL and wow I wish I could say I was surprised but I blaim my self for not changing it yet....it was really watery first thought was head gasket. what are you going to do next?
Check the oil first, if it's a creamy colour then either top or bottom gasket has gone, i would do both anyway if it was in my garage.
like steve check oil , then replace both upper and lower gaskets. always a good idea to replace both the upper and lower, you could replace one then find its the other causing the fault, if you replace both your taking them both out of the picture once and for all. nearly all bike shops would replace both upper and lowers for the reason above and covers their arses
