ive been reading around the forum and have come to realise that i would be better off leaving my ped mostly stock so that it wouldnt blow on me...what could i do to make it go that tad bit faster without gettin a 70's kit cheers lads
So why not get a 70cc kit? I can't get my head around why you (and many others) want to get a noisy exhaust which straight away gives coppers summat to check out and drinks fuel for little gain, yet won't get a discreet quiet mod that requires less work and has a better fuel economy-power ratio plus nobody will know about it unless they strip the bike. Hmm and any performance enhancement (even a derestriction) is illegal unless you register it as a scooter with the dvla which nobody does anyway so it ain't like you're going to get away with it, might as well slot an R1 engine in there for all it matters. A 70cc kit won't just blow up on you unless it hasn't been correctly set-up and being of better quality than OE stuff should last as long if not longer as you won't thrash the pants off it doing 35mph. And as a topic came up this week asking exactly the same thing I'd take some advice off that, either get a 70cc kit or just keep your fuel economy, perserve your engine and leave it alone
i get what ur sayin pal...i read on another topic that these new piaggio and gilera mopeds with the hyper-2 engine have strange cylinders so when buying a 70's kit you have to modify it to fit.
1.5mm of material has to be taken off the cases where the cylinder slots in, any machine shop should be able to do that for you no problem if you split the cases
ill have a butchers at asking...can a restricted 50 ped be wheelied? [sorry for the questions..curiousity got the better of me]
Yes it can, anything can be wheelied. i agree with youall the way there saint jonny. costs abit more than most exhuasts but will give your mates that WTF factor hock:
Dude I honestly canot believe you, spending the best part of 1800 quid on a brand new ped (a shit one as it happens imo) then you wanna tune it, respray it, change all the parts then wheelie it ! You've gotta be mad (or more likely your parents are) to do that, go on ebay a nice bike that is easier to tune, better to wheelie and better looking is easy to find, and then you won't lose so much money and not have so much trouble working on it unless everything is rusted to fuck like mine was. 600 quid should get a nice bike to begin with (zip, typhoon, stalker, stunt/slider, bws/booster, ice etc etc all cheap, easy to work on and stunters) And if you're adamant that you must have brand new then the piaggio zip rs is better and cheaper
i did wna get a second hand one but my dad insisted in me gettin a brand new one as in his opinion will be more reliable as its new and hasnt been ragged to fcuk
Well instead of a new runner, a 2nd hand say stalker at 500-600 quid would leave you 1200 + which could easily renew your cylinder head, crankshaft, exhaust, bearings, brakes, etc etc with good quality aftermarket parts as long as you put the work in, leaving you with effectively a brand new engine
and a pure rapid 70 engine at that. :yahoo: Would never buy a new ped for first, as your bound to fall off. 70 would seriously be your best bet, as its an unvisible mod, no real sound difference on the standard exhuast. and it would be the best money spent, believe me
500 quid spent on a gilera ice, 100 quid polini sport 70cc kit, 80 quid on a 21mm carb, 130 on a doppler s3r chromed,100 quid on a full circle crank, 200 on transmission shizzle, and 100 quid on bits n bobs (jets rollers etc) and thats still 600 quid below what you'd be paying for your standard runner. Just an example although i'd leave the transmission unless it was giving me problems but you get where i'm at, plus the ice must be the easiest ped to work on !
