Got a couple of questions, any help appreciated. Gilera Runner FX DD 125 2 Stroke. It's that time again to split the engine and replace the dam water pump. So whilst the engine was out I took a look at the gears as was getting a noise. But when it came to rebuild I have forgot the way the washers go. I have a single washer (about and inch or so wide) on its own and a three washer combi (same size as single) - a white plastic washer between two metal washers. I was sure that the plastic combi went in first then everything else with the single metal washer on top of gears, however there's no way the combi washers will fit under the outer side (overlap) of the wheel axle gear, so have put the single in first with gears after and combi last. So before I get the engine back in, have I got it wrong? Also, with the star clip on the water pump I thought it sat in a groove in the casing, but can't find it. Should the clip just sit in as far as it will go? Thanks.
The engine doesn't need splitting to replace the water pump, it's only the impeller that sit's in the cases, your changing the seal and shaft, read the Haynes manual it tell's you how to do it!
I,d be interested in knowing how you hold the nut on the impeller end of the shaft if you dont split the casing???????
