right basically i need to put a 125 top end on my runner so i can get it re regas a 125
but i want to no if a 125 topend will fit with no modifications i only ask this as i no if you try fitting a standard 180 topend onto a 125 engine it is a bit of modding involved can any one help cheers

i beleive it will bolt streight on but the barrel liner won't be a snug fit inside the cases, there will be a gap around it. just make sure the barrel is perfectly in the centre when tightening your head bolts down.

assuming this is a "get it legal" temporary mod it should be ok

you cant as the engine numbers will represent it still as a 180. plus its not as easy as swapping the barrels over i dont think

ask a friendly garage to write you a letter so you can send off your log book

actually, there are 2 ways to do it. the correct motorcycle place (usually mot stations) can do the work and then send the paperwork off to say its been converted to 125

    or

you can get it inspected at your local dvla office.

thats why i have to take it to a shop to get the work done there going to write me out an invoice of work carried out so i can send it off with my logbook and hopefully fingers crossed the logbook will come back 125 then i can put the 180 topend back on it ;)

why dont you just pay the garage to not do the work but send off the form

then it wont be a 125 at anytime

Sounds like it could work. The whole DVLA process I mean.

They have become very strict with allowing vehicles to be re registered. I have had 3 in the past month declined. They hold onto your V5 untill you call them and explain or request it be sent as the 176cc. (180 to 125 reg)

The letter they sent me asked for a number of forms of proof. One of which was a manufacturers report. Alot of hassle to go to.
