Hi lads, i have a gilera 172 it has a good few performance mods and right now im getting 73mph clock speed and 80mph downhill.. I have a really tight clutch torque spring which makes it more torquey but could this be my problem?.. And before it gets mentioned yes i have 15.5gram rollers but the bike still wheelies so i dont think they are a problem at all.. Im running a standard 125 gearbox (i think as i got it off ebay stating 125/180 gearbox) I am thinking about getting a gear up kit (as when i got it it had 1 in but nafted up just before i bought it).. What sort of speed gains would a malossi primary or secondary or both give me.. Thanks in advance.. Martin
what problem are you having exactly? LOL the gear up is deffinatly worthwile if you do have stock 125 gearing as they top out around 65-70 anyway so getting more speed is just at the expense of rpm.. gear up you will give you the potential to go over 100... takes alot of power to do this tho, but you will still see a true 90 on the road
if it has 180 gears then true 75/80 isnt bad and again it will only go faster at the expense of rpm (as in revving its fucking tits off, ie, killing the engine) adding a secondary gear up to this is too great a final drive to have.. you wont ever use the top end capable and will loose accelleration. best to gear up a 125 gearbox and sell on your 180 primary
Thanks minor.. I will get a 125 box in it and go for the gear up.. primary or secondary?.. As im wanting to know which will benefit it most.. And as for power.. Do you know many peds that wheelie by opening it up with 15.5gram rollers? haha.. Again thanks cause i know you know alot as i talk to terro and the guys in chat :good:
Oh and just realized i put 13.5 gram rollers in my profile.. i was tired when i wrote it ill correct it now
secondary is about all you can get prittymuch... any of them will do.. but the primary has to be 125 and not 180
so which secondary is best as there is two on ebay at the min a 125 and a 180 one.. and i thought standard gears are diff to gear ups and thought you needed both primary and secondary because the teeth are straight on one and on a slant on the other??.. Is this right? Thanks
