    This runner:

    http://scootershack.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=6046

Has been sitting for 3 years now undercover. We are now attempting to start it. We have not got the exhaust connected by I remember I used to start my old 180 without the exhaust on, will I need it as it's a fourstroke???

It sparks (sparkplug is 3 years old - shall I get a new one?) Everything is connected up right but it doesn't want to budge. We have tried with and without throttle.

Any suggestions on what to do next? Not sure if the exhaust will need to be connected. How many wires need to be earthed which I may of missed?

    Thanks

Yeah when I'm down there next I'll put the exhaust on, it has all new fluids and filters. Only other thing then is the plug.

Good shout on your friend mehmet, is he free Monday?

    Thanks for the quick replies

Hehe he's been in my shed for years. I'll give it a go. My dad said it could be that the jets may be blocked or there is no fuel getting to the spark.

Don't really want to rip the carb off, have you seen a vx one :wtf:

Easy start will do it m8 ;)

ive got no operational choke on my scoot...

butchered it to stay off, long story short: 20.5mm dell off a 180 runner when fitted to a 70cc, the eleccy choke works on a different electrical voltage :(

anyway no choke.. icy winters night .. ice on the saddle and no choke.....blast of easy start in the air box and starts on 3rd kick ;)

Dont forget to clean or replace the fuel filter -these dry up and sometimes you need to manually suck the fuel to see if its getting through.

Dont kill your battery trying to start it up by the way!

    Good luck.

Lol so you know what I mean about the carb then

Mehmet you make me laugh, yeah I'll get a plug too only a couple quid.

I'll take your word on in Dave, take the cover off and spray the foam or behind the foam??

Concept, already been done mate, replaced, looks like the fuel is moving about as it should. Using a powerpack to try and start it, bought a brand new battery last year but didn't charge it and now it's no good, gota get another one :emb:

Oooooh I can't wait to start it with the one off exhaust going on soon!

Nah mate take the cover off and the foam off and then spray in.

Dont be affraid if it starts to turn over much faster as it probably will. Thats the whole point of the easy start.

Let us know what happens im getting excited aswell altho its not even my project LOL.

    1. never wet a plug with fuel. it burns off and kills the plug and also is terible for your rings.

    2. change fuel and fuck easy start.. wd-40 works the same if your desperate. shouldent ever need it tho, hardly red diesel ffs

    3. if theres still no joy try an oil change and ajust the valve timings.. the rubber's in the carb could have perrished/siezed.. whipo the carb off and look for a squirt of fuel when you first thrrottle.

    1. Haven't tried, Dad said it would be no good either.

    2. All new fluids in the bike ;) ...got both, but I still don't think it's that that is stopping it starting.

    3. Adjust the valve timings :wtf: .......may have to whip the carb off but don't really want to, but if it comes to it I will. Everything is leading to the carb tbh.

    Thanks  [/b]

Ive got a simular problem with a vx125 its been sat in a back of a van for 3 years and was stolen from new, its only done 920 Miles and its on a 2003 Plate, Anyways the problem ive got is that the bike will turnover on the electric start (took the barrell out and moved it around, so its always on) but wont fire if you spray easy start into the carb it will fire once but thats it, it jus keeps whiring almost like theres no fuel,
The bike is not nicked its a stolen recorved btw so ive got no keys, there is a redflashing light on, is there a immoberliser on the bike?

i will try the fuel filter like this thread suggests.

P.S sorry for interuppting your thread Jefr0

    Thanks

    Daz

Turns out that it needed the exhaust for the backpressure, started after 30 seconds :D

    Mini update on project page

I would try all new fluids and oil filter change. the red light on the speedo dash is the immobiliser.

Not sure what else to say ? :wtf:
