please no sarcasm basically...i've had this problem on 3 different engines of mine that i've used on my speedfight 2. what it is basically, when i take off the bike shakes and rumbles and im pretty sure it's coming from the transmission. sounds sort of like clutch not engaging properly. although when it first started happening, i changed the clutch to a stage 6 clutch, didnt help. so i changed clutch bell, and it didnt help. the gearbox is in good condition, and im sure its not to do with that as i've rebuilt it several times on the 3 engines. it seems that when i've changed the engine it stops for a good 30 miles and then comes back, but it may jsut be that it's all wearing itself in again. it could have been the variator so i changed it to the malossi multivar and it's still the same. my rollers are slightly flat, but i'm sure thats not the problem. its a really bad problem, and it causes the bike to shake quite badly up to about 10mph then goes alright then goes as normal. there does seem to be quite a lot of noise coming from the transmission, and when it shakes you can hear it all rattling around in there. anyone had any similar problems? or any ideas on what it could be? cheers luke
had a similar problem on my sr 50, used to shake on take of, i put up with it for a couple of days and then it just went tits up, belt was fucked and snapped in the end. wait for someone else to reply tho as i'm not too sure m8
ah right i get ya, basically i made a topic on it on pug-club...and no-one else had the same problem arc: but, im certain its from the transmission, to start with i thought it could have been main bearings etc also.....but after this crank rebuild there is no chance that its them. i've also ran the engine with no transmission at all, so basically jsut crank spinning, and it sounds lovely nothing wrong at all, so must be treansmission related....or frame related, but i can find nothing wrong.
yea what about it? i've already changed from standard to stage 6...and made no difference. alos changed clutch bell, to no avail. the thing i havnt tried is changing the pulleys.
change your flat rollers. and try move the variator up and down to see if the mains are on there way out
i'll change my rollers soon and the mains are brand new lol and they are fine i've checked them. but thanks
hmm....thing is i had my standard clutch with 2000 rpm springs in and i think it done the same, so i bought my stage 6 clutch with medium springs in and it still done it. i suppose i could buy red springs for it. it also happens if i am going say 30mph and i let off to about 5-10mph and jus cruise it it just jolts loads and then wil take off again. so can you eplain why to me that if the springs are too weak it would make it rumble? is it because the clutch engages too early, but because it isnt spinning that fast it doesnt have enough force to keep it firm onto the clutch bell? but its also a totally standard setup atm, so surely standard springs should be fine? arc:
wel, i suppose i could try that. what does kinked mean? i've got a malossi belt on it at them moment, but do have a spare standard one i could try.
wat i said above about my similar problem, thought i'd mention that i also had a malossi belt to wich the problem accured. belt was on the bike for all of a couple of weeks, put my standard back in and ever since then it's been sweet.
ok lads ill try putting standard belt on and i'll let you know how it goes. may even put some of my spare clutch pulleys on also jsut to eliminate that bearing.
