ok well i got my variator off today and ive come to the conclusion who ever opened up this engine before me is a spastic it seems that evry screw/bolt on the engine is rounded :rtfm: anyway so i did all i could with the screws and managed to get 1 out and i dont even want to try any more with the last 2 as they look like theyve had it.
does any one have any ideas on how to get these bastarding screws out without fucking them up....more

firstly you need to get a screwdriver that fits it properly

    then try get it undone

if it ent budging then you may aswell cut a line in it and use a flat head

Use an ordinary impact driver (the type you whack with a hammer.)You shouldn't have to whack too hard to dislodge the bolts. If they don't give in straight away, try DOING THEM UP (with the impact driver) as this is the way they were going when they were tightened, and then try to undo them again. As alexsr70 said, you may need to cut a slot in the bolt head with a hacksaw (use 2 blades side by side to make a thicker slot)

I'll just say at this point, only whack along the length of the bolt, don't hammer down onto the engine casing. I think this is why you were unlucky enough to snap your casing. At the end of the day, tranny covers can easily be replaced, engine casings ARE NOT.

This will get several of them out. Any others left in, grind the heads off. Once you get the side cover off, you will be able to attack what's left with heat/WD40/Mole wrenches.

DON'T re use any of the bolts. Post them to Nigeria. Get Stainless replacements and copper grease them when you refit them, so next time it's easier to get the cover off.

    hope this helps. ;)

but got there in the end :pimp: If non of that works, get a metal filer and file 2 side down and use a spanner. I had to do it with my brake disc it was a bitch all 5 bolts were stuck :rtfm:
