Here goes. Standard 2007 Piaggio Ice,semi de restricted (took the washers out of the variator) and soon to be de restricted exhaust (cutting off the small pipe that leads to no where). Done 1400 miles. Do i 'need' to change my rollers at all? Are piaggio's generally needing to have lighter/heavier rollers anyway over standard? Also,im confused as to what size i need. On a website it says the size rollers Gilera Ice's use are 19x17,but my friend has a Piaggio Nrg and his are 19x15.5. And on some websites its different aswell. Im just saying this because they are both Piaggio's,was wondering if this made a difference or not. What rollers do you reccomend me to get. Ill put you in the picture aswell,my pullof is ok,but if i put full throttle on (throughout all the revs) the bike is not as 'quick' as if i used just under full throttle instead. For reference my top speed on a straight is about 43 mph. Can anyone reccomend me some ideal weight rollers that would make my bike better, preferably better accel and even top end (by increasing the revs) because it doesnt seem to rev that much either. There isnt an obvious problem with my bike, and i wouldnt call it a problem, its just that 'fine' tuning game. Also,if im told i dont need to change my rollers i will accept that, because im here to learn aswell. Thanks.
Hi mate, when you derez a ped its recomended you fully derestrict it all in 1 vist so get that pipe done asap. you dont usually need to change roller when derestrictin but u will need to up jet, or ur bike will bog down as its not gettin enought fuel (which mite be why its boggin at full throttle). if you want to change the rollers its up to u, lighter 1's will give better acceleration but higher revs at top end, heavyer rollers will reduce accel and may give at little top end but not much (all this is on the tuning guide). so like i say get that exhaust cut asap and up jet asap aswell, then see how it is.
I think they're 19x15.5 and I would suggest trying 4.0 4.5 5.0 5.5. Somewhere around there. Changing rollers isn't vital but will make you ICE perform much better.
Thanks guys! There was my mate telling me if i get 11.8 odd rollers and some 'racing clutchsprings' i will see 80mph..I told him to do one. :bird:
rofl, ye some people think, the heavier the rollers, the faster your bike will go, the belt only goes up the variator so much, heavier rollers won't change that!
unless you fit rollers that are so light they havent got enough centrifugal force to open the variator fully...resulting in lower top speed!!
Yeah :w00t: Thats why i came back with,'what - without a gear up' because i know full well you cant acheive over a real 60-65mph on standard gearing. He looked at me and was like 'oh..yeah'. Im really struggling with what size rollers i need here.. You fine lads are telling me 19x15.5 but ive read else where (more so on the roller size and weight website) that they are 19x17. http://beedspeed.com/html-pages/variato ... htm#GILERA
"probably need to upjet" me thinks not.... if its running slightly quicker a little from full throttle the jets a bit big or the rollers are worn/slightly too heavy.. most piggys are too heavy to start with as the 50 barrels are made to last as long as possible and this doesent happen bang high in the revs searchin for power. try dropping to a 6/6.5g roller and check for sighns of wear on the belt.. then if its still faster lower than full throttle put a smaller jet in.
Thanks minor, legend. Can you confirm what size rollers i need, and i will go ahead and order today. And where is the 'best place' to get them from, and also any particular make to order,or any to avoid. Thanks alot minor, and all you other 2stroke heads.
need 19x15.5... best place is the germans as bgm rollers are about 3 quid a go... if your gonna stick with 70's for a while stock up on em to make the order cheaper to deliver.. or ask about who wants what rollers an charge a fiver.
im sayin if your gonna be pissin about with 50/70 engines an pipes might aswell stock up now so you got the rollers you need for any pipe/barrel.
Oh right thanks mate. Will these rollers be fine,or is there anywhere else that is easy to order online and cheaper? A simple yes/no will be fine as you have helped me enough. http://www.donotlink-pedstop.co.uk/p/MA ... 1-552.aspx
ye there fine.. if you dont mind payin that much plus delivery for em. if its still not revving like it does at top speed you can drill the centres of those slightly.
