So I decided to "modify" my scooter. I'm not really in it for performance, more just the general look of it. I'm not a huge fan of the sporty looking scooters with the plastic bodywork, what I like is the barebones look, scooters stripped down so you can see the guts basically.

This is the kind of look i would like to go for with mine, but i'm not really arsed about it being so...err shiny I guess.

    Yamaha Jog CY 50-

And this is my Yamaha Jog at the moment, same model (not as good..yet) -

The main thing I want to change at the moment is the whole handlebar arrangement. I was looking at getting some downhill style handlebars and mounting a round twin headlamp setup on there (like what you see on streetfighters) with a digital speedo.

Now i'm new to the whole scooter malarky so i'm pretty much playing this by ear and learning as I go. Is there any major problems I may encounter when trying to acheive what I want for the handlebar/light set up? I do want to be able to legally use this bike on UK roads. To my mind the most annoying part seems to be getting some indicators that will fit on downhill handlebars. I found some twin headlamps with indicators attached but they don't state on the website if they are e-marked.

    Cheers!

haha 1991 so it's getting on in years!

I was actually considering a front disk, but for now the drum is doing fine, i'll mark that one down for future attention. :p

I wouldnt have thought so, well not in my area anyway. There are a few peds knocking around that look like that but they are all lambretta's and the guys who own them only get them out in the summer months.

The police around here are pretty laid back.

gosh that is old  as old as me!!! :D

thats the minarelli horizontal air cooled engine too?, (same as aerox, just air cooled, what they use in the neos)

the newer jog r engines are the minarelli verticals, so be careful when you order stuff m8

minarelli horizontal air cooled engine you say?

Well im sure knowing that is going to help me out a lot, I did a model specific search for a few engine mods, exhausts etc and couldnt find much of anything at all.

So will any exhaust made for this engine fit my bike or is that just wishful thinking on my part?

Hmm, well it depends which minerlli engine is in it, if its the horizontal engine, then all exhausts designed for the horizontal engine will fit and the same with the vertical.

That picture of the other jog you have posted has the horizontal engine..

so how do I find out if its a horizontal or a vertical engine?

I could take some upclose shots of it and post them so you can see if you can tell or not?

Do the exhausts from scooter-attack come with everything I would need to fit it? Could anyone recommend me an exhaust for no more than £80?

I'm liking the Stage6 PRO Replica CE Exhaust

    Cheers!

Look at the cylinder, if its a vertical cylinder then its a vertical engine, if its a horizontal cylinder, its a horizontal engine,

And id say the best exhaust if your on a restricted budget, would be a leovinche TT, it comes with clutch springs, and rollers to suit, althought people usually dont use the included rollers, and tend to go for lighter ones.

I have always thought of horizontal engines have the spark plug horizontal (like Aerox). And a vertical engine has the spark plug vertical (like a speedfight)

I don't know if that is correct

Exhaust, i would go for a gianelli reverse or a Arror extreme. Both very good on 50cc engines and you don't have to mess around with rollers (if you don't want to). You can pick them 2 exhausts up for a £70 - £100 depending on where you go. Ebay might be a good place to have a look first though.

    Don't buy a technigas

Edit: I also forgot about the TT, great, cheap, fast exhaust for 50cc and look good!

well the engine is a horizontal as you can see the plug and the barrel surround.

so its the same enginge as the JOG R

If you want to make your bike stand out..... Before you put the exhaust on and use find out if there is someone in your area who chromes. A TT chrome will look great but once the exhaust has been used many places chrome it as it takes way to long.

tbh i would not go to the bother of chroming a tt. probs cost as much as the pipe to chrome it. i would just get some vht paint on it.
