You can do it. read! Make notes as you read. That helps it sink in.

just do your homework. it sucks- but you want the result- so do your homework. Read the damn book cover to cover and make notes on the salient points. Then make notes on those notes. When you read something & make notes on it (not copying - thinking) you are making your brain work.
To make it more fun you could read it and then make notes about how daft most of it is. That works too.

Get some paper, a pencil and the rule book. And then go about it like you mean business. You can do it. But you gotta work for it. GET ON IT!
