recently put my pm59 on my runner which the mods now stand at: Malossi crank malossi 172 kit malossi mhr reedblock kundo straight manifold malossi 25 phbl carb malossi e13 malossi variator malossi kelvar x belt malossi gear up pm59 i had it running well with 14grams on the standard exhaust but wen i put the pm on i had to drasticly go down to 12.5s because it was so slow. i tried 13s aswell and bottom end has plenty of grunt but after around 30 if u let of and rev there no reaction just more noise when it obviously should be pulling and quater throttles like just as fast as full. its got a 108/55 jet needle on second from top notch. iv tried a delta with red springs adjusted standard clutch white conrtra spring standard spring with no effects. it went through the clock faster with the standard exhaust than with the pm :msn1: any one have any idea what to do to get rid of this because im prity anoyed that new pipe led to less speed im thinking its jetting/rollers but 12.5s seem to rev nicly but stil dosent pull. was worse with 13's and 14's. cheers leeroy
it aint jetting if it pulled fine with the standard pipe surely? pm claim you can add there pipe, not change anything and see a gain. 13's-14's should be spot on, thinks you need to get graham down for a deep inspection
the malossi belt has just bedded in. tried the standard and its the same story. by the way white contras spring is rubbish!
duno would say sounds like vari or something not working as it should but cant explane why it pulls fine with standard on, everything's new aint it bruv? so who put it all together?
My local shop did the crank 172 and gear up. i assembled everything else because its not hard at all. its all fited properly everytime the vario comes off its got a new nut cranks inspected and all sorts. its next to brand new casings anyway. i dont understand it. i did have a malossi torque drive in there which i fitted which wasent leaking. put the standard back in but they tend to spray extra grease upwards from below the spring but it dosent do it anymore. that may have contaminated the belt. but i had the same problem wen it had the standard pipe until i went 14gram rollers but iv been going up and down with no gains. it was faster with the standard on. alot gruntier and visious with the pm but after 30 the setup before was better :msn1: im pissed off lol
right, fact is the pm makes all its power at higher revs. if theres no power there id say its down to jetting. the 108 seems a little big ether way (if its an ac its tnot too bad) but the needle is deffo wrong as therte verry rich needles stock. bang it back to the top notch and reset the rollers to 14g. check your reeds just to be sure. seems strange that it works with the stock pipe but not the pm as 125's arnt as sensitive to roller change as a 50 so it should still pull well with any rollers in there. just gets better when its spot on. things to check are the variator bushes. the belt to make sure its sitting straight against the pulleys, any kind of air leek, the head to piston clearance (squish) and finally the choke is spring is pushing the slide back in. still verry strange and if it were me id rip it down and strart again, entire transmission and top end.
iv tested it for air leaks and theres non. the cylinder isnt leaking coolent levels have stayed the same. with the variator im using the black washer that came with it . then the variator and the belt ect. squish is at 0.9 and the choke is fine. im getting a pm billter head ect soon so il get that striped and rebuild properly. as for the trasmision iv had it apart endless times. it feels asif it holds back on more throttle. il try a smaller jet and adjust the needle postion when it was ticking over i left it puled the spary out and it was black.dirpping a bit. also roller weight would be a bastard with me im a lard ass. also how do you check the variator bushes. its the new style engine so behing the torque drive assey theres no washer ect. it all looks to be fine!. out of my area with 172 im the only one with gear up and the only one having these problems. what do you think? cheers
