i recently bought a 4 stroke scorpion exhaust for my 125vx
it only lets me hit 65 when the standard did 75
i know theres 2 welds inside the exhaust... ring shaped which is acting like a restrictor
does anyone know about this and how to take it out?

From experience a couple of tecnigas exhausts on my old aerox, the cone shaped restrcitor can be taken out by using an old cookers blow torch, use the blow torch on the two spot welds for 5 minutes and watch the welds change colour, be sure to use the blue part of the flame cos the yellow part will tarnish the finish and make the exhaust look shite especially if its a chrome one :emb:

after the two spot welds change colour due to heat use a long instrument such as a thin knife or penciland pull the cone out - out comes one restrictor

2ndly on some there is a cyclinder - shaped piece of metal with a lower diameter of the silencer cans one, again, blue flame of the piece of metal stciking out of the silencer end and pull with something like a screwdriver and out goes your 2nd restrictor

    - Ive herad theres some restrictors in the can itself - in the baffles area, never taken one of these out, ive heard theres some in the stage 6 pros

hope this info helps mate, im a novice myself at scooter tuning so loads more people will know about this stuff than me! :pimp:

if its a restrictor pipe just drill the cunt lol all you have to do is drill a hole in the weld join and then hammer and chizel it until the weld cracks ;)

ive just done it to my mates technigas exhaust which had a restriction pipe in it. hope this helps matey

yeah but 4 strokes are a little different to 2 strokes...i dont think the
    scorpion is restricted as such!!!

its just that you dont get a massive power gain on the vx from changing
    exhausts like a 2 stroke!!!

And im hearing more and more people saying that the stock exhaust on
the vx is hard to beat....some people even saying that theyve lost power
when swopping for an after market can!!

thats what i thought, why would they restrict an exhaust that wont make enough power to break the learner legal limit? aint exactly essesive emissions either

there not restricted but the baffle can be taken out to make them much louder

i think you need a roller change on a 125

whats the acc like to before

no i mean pulloff and that. drop the rollers by a few grams.

brummie boy has a polini variator for sale i think.

im sure he said his bike went crap as a 125 with bolting a scorp on

yeah it did but it was a bit better when he put lighter rollers in!!

but he only ran it for less than a week with lighter rollers before we fitted
the 125 bottom end fitted with VXR180 top end...really motors now!!!

yeah it seemed to go slower with the scorpion on, didnt have chance to fit my polini variator, should make a bit more difference, dont need it now with the 180 cylinder though now

theres only a 10mph difference between a 125 and a 180or 200 so imsure gearing isnt much different

maybe it only has a 125 carb on it, im not sure to be honest, would a 180 carb make alot of diffeence and would it be restricted by the cdi?

As far as i know the 125 and 180 have the same carb...just different jetting!!

And if it was restricted by the CDI you would feel a rev limiter cutting power
    after a certain revs!!
