Only just got in to the Scooter scene...so don't know much about them. Although I'm a qualified Car Mechanic and and Aircraft Engineer so not bad with the old Hands I had the exhaust off the other day while fixing the stand mount and noticed the Exhaust port on the engine was not fully opened out (ie.. to match the exhaust) is it ok to match this and what sort of gains will it produce? will i need to do anything else if i do this? Its a '99 Yamamha/MBK Booster I am planning on getting a new Exhaust at some point a carb. Cheers Phil
As long as you don't alter the dimensions of the port where it enters the cylinder wall port matching it will be fine. The smoother the port walls the less carbon build up you will get.
I've got some grinding stones and polishers that I've used on Car heads in the past, obviously a 2 stroke works a little different but I was gonna just open it up a bit to make a better match to the exhaust. As at the momentthe exhaust is round and the port is more like a half moon?
