because of how expensive a ignition barrel is for my scoot im looking to temporarily install I hidden switch that would turn the ignition on/off so I can atleast use the scooter.. is it even possible? if so which wires would be needed etc? ill take front panel off to take pic of the wires coming from ignition barrel later..

I know it isnt the same scooter, but when I bought my Honda Bali, it had a switch and a kill switch for the ignition. There were four wires for the back of the ignition switch. Two wires are for the electrics and two are for the ignition. My ignition was wired up to a rocker switch and the electrics (lights, horn starter motor etc) were wired up to the kill switch. The engine could start without the kill switch in by starting it on the kick start. If it was wires the other way around, the kill switch would have stopped the engine being started. It can be done, but an ignition switch is not too expensive off ebay. I bought a rull set of locks for £25 delivered.

thats for the Honda bali though, the ignition barrel alone for my scooter is £50, £50 I don't have and that's ebay special, cant get a used one because they don't just bolt off the frame like most do. ive managed to bodge on a switch now from another bike until I can afford the proper barrel.

Am I right in thinking that you have a Sym DD?
    Or maybe a Devil?

instead of tearing the ignition barrel apart could of drilled down the contacts, put a file in made a slot and insert a screwdriver to turn it on. Not very hard.

whilst that is a good second choice I think my method has a lot more "professionalism" to it, I mean its not like were simple bike thieves... oops I mean motorcycle recovery agents now is it
alternatively buy a cheap ignition off ebay and switch the wires out with the ones in the old connector if connectors aren't the same... takes what 5 minutes?
