Replacement Key for piaggio medley 2017

Advice please needed
i recently lost my black key which came off the key ring so I got a key cut from a locksmiths who specialise
in keys with codes
anyway i don’t know a huge amount about these things so brought along the Brown key that i was told to look after and proceeded to get a copy cut along with the chip which im told needed also putting inside the key
£60.00 lighter i have a replacement key cut and the code copied and it worked !
anyway this started to play up and will now randomly just not work (i turn the key and i get a red light flashing twice on the dash and it won’t start up nothing at all)
the problem i now have is that i’ve mislaid the brown key somewhere around the house and now left with this spare key which seldomly works
today it’s been really bad and will often need taken out and out back in 7-8 times before it’s happy with the key
i’m not sure why it sometimes works and others it don’t
i’ve taken it back to the shop and they say the code is still inside the chip and no reason why it don’t work
my worry is now that i’ve mislaid the brown key can not get another one copied or has the shop done something wrong when cutting and copying the code ?
the key i have is a basic JMA key looks cheap but it worked
I Will add that the brown key before i mislaid it worked everytime and its only this key that’s not working
please advise is the key dodgy or has it been set up incorrect all he did was plug the brown key into a machine and copied the code and then cut the key was this correct as youtube shows other ways to do this

 

The new key needs programing to the brown key, you need to find the brown key !

and why does/did the key work for a while and now is playing up ?

let’s say i don’t find the brown key what are my options ?

The new key transponder is blank, it needs setting to the ecu on the bike. If it's similer to Piaggio et4 it will be in the Haynes manual.
