repairing speedo pickup sensor (digital on gilera ice)

the speedo pickup sensor on my gilera ice isn't working ive had it off and was full of what looked like sick so i cleaned it then re assembled it but still isn't working and the part is nolonger produced ;( any ideas on how i could fix the one i have??
