ive just got a job and starting this saturday and with my first wage packet im going to be buying a new ped. not brand new but looking for like an 03-04 or something like that. atm i have a gilera runner with a typh 125 engine in it and the f*cking thing is so unreliable, what would you all suggest to be a good reliable 125 with a bit of speed, even a 172 but heard these often go bang. any help appreciated

A well looked 172 will last ages. its the people that dont maintain them properly

how many miles do you need to go

a bike that is looked after will be fine.

vx's are ment to be reliable i heard but then again i dont want a 4 stroke.
i need something reliable to get to work and bac without fail.

125 VX Runner and bang a 210 kit on it and you'll be laughing mate.
    They're faultless.
    I'm thinking of getting one.

a standard 180 runner will do the job perfectally, but you will only wheelie it an abuse it :w00t:

a 4 stroke will do the job easier and without paying big bucks your more then likely to get a better 4 stroke then a 2 stroke

if you sort your runner out it will be relaible what exactly is wrong with it

my runner is just a complete piece of shit, the lights work when they feel like it literally ive checked all the conextions all sorts, i will drive around and it will just bog down for no reason then be fine again. nothing on the clocks work apart from the speedo, the panels look asif theve been in a war with a tank and i havent got a back brake, and at the moment i have no money to fix it. but now i have a job im looking to just use my first wages to get a new bike. no more problems.

Sounds like my mates katana except for the bogging bit, The bogging is probably somthing stupid to with your carb or transmission, The rest wouldnt be hard to fix, i think you could make a nice little project out of it :D

I think he should get rid of it whilst he can and buy a standard 125 and be done.
I know exactly how he feels. It's fucking annoying.

thats what i got it for really, when it goes it is pretty fast for a standard 125,
i had hopes to get everything sorted fairly quickly from when i got it but there have been so many problems with it i have just not had time, most nights i sit up till 4- 5 in the morning fixing the thing. ive looked at some 180's today monty and what sorta price would i be looking to pay for a decent one, £1000...

    180 2 or 4 stroke?

I know a decent 180 2 stroke is around 7-800 as I'm always on eBay lol

First post on here for a while, but in a similar situation with work etc...

Currently riding a 50, looking to buy a 125, would a VX be the best/ most reliable to tune?

wouldnt say it would be the best to tune but certainly the most reliable, will cost you a bomb to tune but will be worth it in the end deffo

I still think a 125 VX with a 210 kit is the best/easiest/most reliable option.

u know how much a 210 kit is? why not just buy a 200 runner in the first place.. or even the 220

125s rev far too much. and sometimes fall to bits too.

standard 200 ftw cheaper and more likely to be looked after
