After cleaning and refitting my carb, its not filling up with petrol so its not starting.... any ideas what to do after refitting a carb because obviously it needs petrol to refill it to get running again but how do I make it fill up??????

Yep, there the fuel is going into the bowl at the bottom of the carb.. vacuum pipe is connected to the top of the carb too. Then the line to the oil filter.... I've noticed everyones carb is up at an angle does that make a difference?

Does the vacuum pipe come from the top of the petrol tank as theres a loose pipe there or where the fuel line comes out as theres a black pipe there too

there should be 2 i think not sure on your bike,,,,but there will be a small pipe the a bigger pipe ...pull the pipe off the carb and suck on the other one ,,,,see id fuel comes out and they both need to be tight

I've taken off the vacuum pipe and when I suck on it I can see fuel going down the pipe into the carb. There is suction but not a great deal. I think I might need to replace the head but trying to do the little bits first, bcos if I need to replace the head I'll just buy a 70s kit.

sure you got the toobs connected the right way around ....fuel to the right inlet????????

Just dont overlook the obvious...double check everything. If it was OK before then its gotta be something you've medaled with

I haven't changed anything from how it was before. The fuel line is on the tap closest to the petrol tank and the vacuum pipe is furthest away. Petrol is getting into the float bowl but not the engine, but I've checked all the jets.

if the float bowl is filling then its got to be a blocked main or pilot jet.

give them a clean and then with the air box off, hold a couple of fingers accross the inlet to the carb but dont block it off fully. Crank the bike over and your fingers should be wet with fuel. If thats Ok then fuel will get through

But I checked all the jets and I'm sure none of them are blocked. Does it get into the carb by suction?? I will try in the morning so I can see what I'm doing lol

as the piston draws downward it drags the charge in with it ...so yes it works on suction to an extent

So your suggesting I should take the carb apart and check all the jets as it should be sucking up fuel into the carb?

Also can some check my new thread in general discussions and help me work out what bike my stage6 exhaust is for I want to sell it......thanks
