Ive got a Vespa ET2 with a pollini 70cc kit..... at the moment im using a champion C57.... (recommended by pollini) it was a crazy price, and the electrode is starting to wear..... anyway, let me know what you guys think i should use......
its a good idea..... they are cheap enough, and are a consumable..... thanks guys.... ill look for that one (or equivelant).... might have to be NGK...they are the most popular here. ill gap it to .5-.6mm as per the haynes manual. tinribs: verspa is going ok... bit dissapointed with top speed at the moment.... it really struggles to go above 70kmph..... it just clicked over 10,000km, so ill pull the casing off and inspect the rollers etc.... think its time to order the pipe (same as yours) and a bigger front pulley/variator....
ok.... a br9es is going to be hard to get...... i think i can get a br8es.... is this better/worst/no different?
should run fine with the 8 as thats the stock plug (ive used them many a time) plugs last a good while if your jettings right. if it doesent last min of 3 months its ether the wrong plug or your idle mix is wrong (or sticking choke)
Thats what mine was doing untill i changed my rollers to 5.5g. it goes right round to 80 for the same revs when i had the heavier rollers at 70, the revs sound a lot happier if that makes any sense. I've not changed the variator on mine, I want to get a stage 6 primary gear up kit as they come complete on the shaft, just waiting to find out which one will fit my scoot from scooter-attack Its a shame they dont do any better pipes for the vespas, laser do a stainless stell one, but i don't know what it is like for performance. Make sure you remember to remove the collar thats spot welded on the inside of the entrance to the gianelli pipe
thanks for the info man. ill do the rollers etc when they need replacing.... probably now anyway lol. did your pipe come with a jet?
i left the jet standard (not sure what the sizes are).... ill have to get another one when i start getting more bits and pieces... like the pipe.
I would have thought you'd be better off going up a few sizes with the main jet as you've fitted the 70 kit. The stock jet in my old carb was 53 and i've changed the carb to a 21mm with a 70 main jet. I had all sorts of problems running my 70 on a restricted exhaust, it would splutter all the time and felt like it was being held back. did you derestrict your exhaust? the easiest things i did that made the biggest difference were fitting 5.5g rollers and derestricting the exhaust.
over here, the vespa came derestricted from the factory..... not sure if this means a different jet or not..... the engine runs fine.... plugs are a nice colour, so its not running lean. ill upjet with the exhaust.... did the carby make much difference? is it worth it?
for the tuning you and i have done, i dont think a 21mm carb is worth it, i'd go for a 19. I did notice a difference between the stock and 21mm, plus it was nice to get away from the auto choke. fuuny thing is, is that with the 70 mian jet, it still seems a little bit rich, will have to test it some more....
cool... thanks for the info man.... ill hold out on the bigger carb until i have a few more mods under the belt. btw.... how long are rollers supposed to last?
ahhh k... well i just ticked over the 10k km mark, so they are at least in need of an inspection .....
All right..... bought the new plug and chucked it in.... i checked out the rollers, and the still have no obvious flat spots..... i think i will get some new ones anyway. A while ago, someone recommended me a bigger variator..... does anyone know which one that would be? i figured that i may as well get that when i have to get the new rollers anyway... all also get the pipe, bigger jet and new belt....... firstly, which jet you recommend.... secondly, when should i replace my belt..... its a kevlar one, and has worn to 18.5mm.... sorry.... this post is all over the place.....
