Got a sticking rear caliper. Am I right in thinking that rear wheel as to come off to be able to remove the pads and caliper. Doesn't look like enough room to pull the caliper with wheel in place like on a proper bike

Yes remove the wheel or fully deflate the tyre.

As the tyre is on the outside of the wheel can't see that being any help?

You can remove the wheel nut completely and shift it so it gives enough clearance to get at the caliper, but if it is a sticky caliper then it needs to come off completely, be stripped, new seals, clean the pistons and replace the pads.
    Sounds a bitch dunnit?
BUT.....the usual cause of a sticky caliper is because the outer dust seal is rolling up on itself and not allowing the piston to pull back when the lever is released.
A sticky caliper can also cause the disc to warp due to the pads always being on the disc and making it get hot.

Ive open the caliper a few times. Its not that hard. New seals and such is better. But hopefully you can get along just cleaning it up. Loads of vids on the tube bout the sybject
