After a year of being sat at the back of my shed due to having the RSV i decided this year i was going to put the RD on the road, so out i drag it, batter the spiders off, turn the ignition on and there's life in the battery. 3 kicks and she fires into life in a cluod of 2stroke smoke. LOVELY! Anyway.... i start going round the bike doing Pre-MOT checks, serviced the brakes, cleaned the carbs and balanced them up, took her for a sneaky road test and all is good. came back, decided to clean her up a bit better and noticed a hairline crack in the frame near the front engine mount. Naturally it's a case of grinding out and welding up, something i have no problem with. My problem however is what to do about the chassis. the green powder coating is faded and starting to rust around the frame tube joints. the decision to have it blasted and re-powder coated is best, thats my plan anyway. and whilst i'm at it i may aswell have the wheels done. now the question is, do i have it re-done in the green or do i go for another colour? just asking other people's opinions.
i would go for a darker green, what rsv you got this is me on our colin edwards rep , me dad use to proddy race a ypvs.
nothing that fancy, got the base model in bleck (the torque bike for anyone who's ever seen the film)
the rd would look good in any coulor i like the green tho. anyways didnt you have 2 wobbly whats happend to the other one? i want a ypvs but can never find a decent one near to me dont fancey a swap for my fizzer do ya?
like every other kenny roberts replica RD out there. if i were doing that i'd go black and white with red speedblocks like: tempting but its following the classic yamaha theme. i'd rather steer clear of what everyone else has done, be a bit more unique.
rd's = all time classic now! soooo... keep it original imo! will be worth more and more sought after! :good:
original is already out of the window, it has harris 4 pot calipers and a streetfighter headlight. the rd is supposed to be an F2: When i bought it it had 350 R fairings (off the brazillian built model): and i want it to look like an N2:
