erm... what year, spec and pics of said bike? and list of problems lol...

it could be £30 or £3000 for all we know for a rough repair price... :wtf:

i know a bloke who would love to do this, he's restored some beautiful RDs in the past although i've never seen him do a 125.

here's one to make you want it done more:

assuming you want a full rest. you're looking at:

    Paint job and decals
    rims powdercoated
    chassis powdercoated
loom repaired or replaced (most have been hacked to death)
    plastics replaced if damaged
    shock
forks rebuild and replace any parts that are damaged
full engine rebuild with rebore and rebuilt crank
engine re-painted to factory black (they always peel)
exhaust re-blacked unless it's on a chrome then it's a case of re-chroming (assuming its in good nick)
swinger bearings and bushes will want replacing along with wheel bearings
cables will want replacing or cleaning
    grips
    seat re-covering
    new tyres
    cush drive replacing
    chain and sprockets
gear shift shaft (always wears and weeps oil)

I'm sure theres more i've missed, its how far do you go, a full nut and bolt rebuild isn't cheap. being the later YPVS model the value isn't going to be excessively high either for a good few years, the sought after ones are the mk1 and mk2 LCs, try www.rdlccrazy.co.uk for more information, friendly bunch who are open minded about what they do with their bikes (none of this "the allspeeds were never intended for the MK2, get them off it now" shit), the forum link is at the top of the homepage.

if the numbers match then it's worth having it done as a show/sunday afternoon bike but if not then an RD enthusiast will never see it as a nice bike, it will just be another RD.

have the engine rebuilt by somone good like stan stevens or somone on wobbely/tweaks recomendation as they know the bikes well.. alot of other parts fot them tho so its not all bad news if you want it diff.. its only die hard purists that like em stock, your bike do what you like. id bang some rs forks on there with a diff rear end.. diff wheels and obviously cut the plastics to a streetfighter tone. then flat bars an its a winner

best bet is strip it totally.. sort the frame yourself (paint if necisasary and grease everyhting) then do everything you can yourself (forks/wheels blah blah) get the engine rebuilt and bolt it in then ask for help.. paying somone to do a custom bike will end up more than the bikes worth belive me. so sort what you can yourself.. main thing is take it /COMPLETLY to bits an clean everyhting...

as minor said, the cost will outweigh the value if you want a minter.

do the bits you can yourself gary get help with the difficult bits .you will learn along the way, and you will have a bike that you had a hand in making , its good to sit back at just look at it and think i did that? :punk:

And with the money you save go somewhere hot and get fucked ;)

Fair play to wobbly for typing all that out :D

buy a pretty one with engine issues if you can, that way with a rebuild the bike is fresh and you know whats happening in there.
