well people its a quick question about my bike , i just went to put fuel in got 5 miles down the road and its running like shit its trying to stall when i let it idle (fuel injection model ) , opend the tank and usually you get a strong smell of petrol well with this it's not a strong smell , the smell of petrol is there but its not very strong and went for a dual carageway blast n when i got home it seemed to idle ok i'm just wondering if its shit petrol or if my bike has an internal problem by the way i went to shell and put in v power , i have used v power before but not the petrol station that i went to ( in other words , its first time ive been to this petrol station) and no i didnt put diesel in before any 1 asks
That's my thoughts too. Contaminated fuel. You may have just got some dregs of petrol and water from the petrol station last time you filled up the can. They are supposed to decant the water out by pumping a volume through and letting the water settle out in a 5 gallon container, but the garage you used might not have been doing this.
Empty the tank by siphoning and drain off the fuel feed pipe to the injector from the pump by disconnecting it and turning the engine over to clear the pump. Get a cheap bottle of Methylated Spirits, pour some into the tank and turn the bike over to draw some through the pump. The meths mops up the water. Drain off all of the meths, refill with clean fresh fuel and reconnect the fuel feed to the injector. After a few cranks over the bike should start and be OK.
Just hope it's nothing serious but weirdly sometimes when I pull the clutch in. The engine will die and other times it won't Got to work and was idle-ing fine.
You probably have a tiny amount of water sloshing around in the tank that gets drawn in by the pump when you pull the clutch in and the fuel surges forward. Add a small amount of meths (say 50ml) to the tank to try and absorb it into the fuel.
