im thining of porting the manifold in my aerox as i took the exaust off and saw that the manifold has a flat edge cutting offsome of the flow, would this give me noticable differennce as i have a big headed wanker with a geared sherco 5osm who thinks hes the man and he passes me on the way home everyday so i wanna wipe the smile off his face :bird:
yep could make a difference get a piece of card and make a template of your exhaust outlet (the port on the actual barrel) Then lay it over the end of the pipe and match them perfectly with a dremel or such like
keep the tamplate relative tho.. the same size hole is useless in the wrong place/angle. angle is more important than diameter with the exhaust
might have to have a go at this , sounds like the novice end of proting when you talk about the angle do you recomend keeping it the same or matching it to the angle of the exhaust downpipe ?
i think i know what your'e on about, the minarelli has a very small semi-circular opening where the exhaust bolts to the barrel, i would suggest you match that hole to the exhaust hole, however you don't want to be grinding away inside the barrel as the heights of the ports are crucial to the bike running, you can sap slightly more power by liting the exhaust port 1mm or so but it's not really worth it on a stock barrel. best bet is just to open the manifold end up to match and give better flow and also get some wet and dry in there and clean all the imperfections up. don't do it with the barrel on the bike or you'll get swarf in there and it'll bugger everything.
yes and no, you want your squish to be about 0.8mm minimum really, the problem with increasing the compression in this way is the ignition timing then needs retarding slightly to stop detenation or pinking whatever you want to call it. skimming the head to 0.8mm gap between the head and piston at the smallest point is safe though
