i got a punctured tire, its a a very small puncture so it only releases air slowly would this come under warranty? the guy at metroplis said its £44 for a new one plus £30 labour because they have to take exhaust off too. what do you think should i go for it?

My local Garage (http://www.bikestationonline.com) fitted an innertube rather than replacing the tyre...innertube plus fitting cost me £15....very good price i know but those guys are ripping you slightly....you should know the exhaust is a couple of bolts and often you can loosen to get enough leeway to get the wheel off anyway.

£74 for you....£15 for me....i think the £30 labor is ridiculous.

take it down to National Tyres...they're now equiped to deal with bikes. They've got stands for superbikes too...but obviously would be able to use your centre stand.

It'll cost you about £15 as said or you could take the wheel off yourself and take the loose wheel down.

My local tyre fitter charged a fiver for a 10" tube fitted

erm, you dont remove a tyre to fit a plug.... it can be done in place, just remove the valve and your away...

as for fitting an inner tube..... NO just plain NO..... if your tyre won hold air you need to replace/fix it, not bodge it wiht a tube....

My problem was around the sides of the wheel the paint has begun to fall off causing small air gaps where the tyre seals...tried some sealant but it just appeared in other places.

I don't see nothing wrong with fitting a tube into a tyre Minor....it's irrelevant whether the tyre holds air if its the tube thats doing the job anyway, surely?

It just depends on whether or not they are tubeless rims

If they are, then its the air in the tyre that holds it to the rim of the wheel...

permenent plugs need the tyre to be taken off though, the other type can be done with the tyre still on

lol if it doesnt seal the tyreplace should get a sanding drum on the rim and make it seal i had this problem with a typh rear wheel which had no paint ended up giveing it a good going over with the sanding drum and loads of sealant (was low pro too so even harder)

as for tyre weld connor its only for low speed think it says 30mph on the tin and its only a temporary thing saying this i did do over 100 clock speed on the drag with trye weld holding out fine

permanant plugs do NOT need the tyre off (i used to do them all day at honda) the leaking sis as andy said, due to shit in the bead...

the fact is, running a tubeless tyre with a tube does 2 things... 1, it throws the wheel out of balance (can be corrected yes) 2, adds unsprung weight.. the wheels will effectivly be heavier... plus the fact debris in airlines CAN fuck a tube yet wont touch a tyre... PLUS the tyre can easily slip the beed and spit the tube out (only need the pressure to drop slightly and the bead will come away from the wheel, suck in some shit and blow your wheel at a silly slow speed) put bluntly we have had tubeless tyres for fucking years, for a good reason, its not a wheelbarrow or a spoked wheel now is it.

the point im trying to make is, if your going to fit a tube, you need to half remove the tyre in the first place. so you may aswell save dogh in the long run and fix the problem you STARTED with.
