ok, been helping out a couple of friends with this little project, its a minimoto engine (out of a grc super) heavily modified bike's (will get pics up later) been messing wiht everything (proddy engine, the last race engine built by a certian "reputable tunner" who for now will remain nameless, and now this) basicly its cut from scratch, started life as a few chunks of metal.. alot of planning of parts/placment and a HELL of alot of manual machining (nothing cnc here, all worked out manually from drawings and cut DRY on a lathe/mill) using a bzm 50 kit (5 port) wich made close to 15bhp on the engine dyno, a FULLY custom titanium clutch (cost 600 odd alone to make ) stage 6 pwk 24, cut for a v force reedblock, using a digital programable hpi ignition system (modified rotor) aswell as a few choice peices (one off head/skullcap, special piston, few more sneeky things im not saying shit about just yet).. its just about ready for bolting together and testing so we thought we'd throw up pics of the finnished (almost) article (coatings/finnishing's to do, mostly anodizing/some nicely milled names) anyway.. heres some pics like i said the barrel is bought, the head/jacket, both halfs of the crankcase, the starter cover/pullstart mech/clutch/clutch cover and the inlet are all ONE OFF and apart from the cnc clutch (desighne by us) ALL the machining was done at home
cheers pal.. forgot to mention, were running 14 odd bhp (lowest reading correction on a dynapro ENGINE dyno, the other one shiny uses read around 2bhp more than this on avarage) were aiming for around 18bhp on the engine dyno and hopefully into the 20's on shiny's dyno. if all is sucessfull it will mean a call to the guinness people theres some serious trickery inside but pics will come once its being built up/all finnished off... cant fucking wait to hear the lil beast run. its the same barrel obviously but the new cases comprise of a different reed position/layout/size, completly different internal shape/lots of secrets and every mm of every part positioned for peak performance/worst fuel econimy so will be a like for like comparesen wiht a stock (well ported production) on a 4 reed block to the new case.. same crank too, forgot to mention the other obvious advantage is the powerjet carb over the roundslide aswell as the cdi and internal rotor ignition as opposed to the old fixed point coilpack bollocks... should be seing power right up to 18/19k (crank will have a wobbely after any more revs i recon)
that looks nice.. what it going in? and does it being made out of billet raise the compression in the cases? or do they just use it for the heads for another reason?
LOL.... billet is just a big lump of metal... usually high grade if people make a point of it being billet, the term means "cut from one big lump not pourd into a mould (casting)" so ye, the main advantage is its STRONG, its cut from one chunk so the metals the same all the way through and its a FAR better metal than the original cast crappy magnesium/ali alloy.. the main reason is because the old case had reached its usable limits as far as our plans deem'd. so a new set made to our desighn/for the parts we selected was required (and after a few months of hard ass work for the 2 people involved) the things nearly done and i thought id share it with ya better to keep secrets and supprise people than to chat shit and never do anything afterall its a minimoto engine. gonna be raced this year, mostly in spain/some english curcits... its a NON money making venture.. its MEARLY for fun and has cost fuckloads more than you could really imadgen (talking nice beemer teritory... and i mean NICE beemer ) will get pics of the bikes, one of wich has a minature copy of a honda single side swing arm, both are coverd in trick one off bits and both sport home made carbon fibre fairing's
wow, really impressive stuff here. taking tuning and engineering to another level. nice work g , keep it up :good: (now i know wat that lump of aircraft grade ally was for)
WHAT. man thats nice! I can see the direction of the flow is well better than the avg scooter engine Would be nice to see whats been done on the flow/cases as starting to see what good and whats bad. I see a nice fireblade rep in the background
aint even that lump.... thas sommin TOTALLY different for a start, the internals are now prittymuch 2 chambers.. only the conrod comes through the bottom half of the case (basicly its all filled in, can see some of it in the pics) now, i havent done any of the "porting" on this case, it was done mostly on a mill then at this stage is roughed out to shape prittymuch. the porting has been done by guy riding the thing (chris) as has the barrel (extensivly and verry rucking well i must add) as its his project, its not finnished so i didnt wanna put it up but fuck it should give you an idea.. its pocketed to clear the piston and the holes feeding the oil seals sit PERFECTLY half across the seal at the bottom, other than that the crank is sealed in its own little vacumm/vortex of uninterupted air.... best flow, fuck crank life. we want power not life, its a race engine.. more pics to come
were toying wiht the idea of munching out some twin engines... the more i think about the the less likely i am to bother machining an entire case for a scoot as its SO much, if anything id work out a sectional 3 peice case (front 2 halfs wiht the crank) a rear section wiht the gearbox/brake and a centresection... but again, whats the point when you considder thew work involved? only reason would be to replace the reedblock and tbh cutting the lot out and machining parts to be bonded/welded into polace is alot less work.. plius if it breaks a caliper/pushed a conrod through the case its thousands of hours down the pan. the aim is to get use of a cnc machine (somthing big, prefebly get myself a job where theres a bit of machine down time) then i can literally spend a few hours drawing one up thern press play and let the machine do the rest. im still considdeting making up a swingarm to fit these type of engines to 50 bikes.. yes its all on the clutch and it wont last long, but these are 14+bhp and tiny.. imadgen an upscaled version wiht a 200 tm/big bore crosser barrel on there? big jetski/snowmobile barrels are looking REAL nice atm. LOL
lol minor you nutter your ideas are makeing me have a big naughty grin. is this the same kit you showed me one time ages ago when u said you were thinking about building a tod rod for your kid?
similar... that was a b1 enigne (oragami, bidizem basicly wich is the same company bgm spawnd from) different as it has a 6 port twin exhaust, this is 5 port wiht aux exhaust port (so this has 3 exhaust ports, one big, 2 small with 5 transfers) also the b1 barrel has an integrated half pipe (instead of a stub it has a long section the exhaust just slips into) verry similar tho and in 50cc form makes about the same power as the grc rr super (quoted 14bhp.. more like 11)
ok, just been sent a couple more pics of today's little meeting of the 2 people involved and its all looking promising. testing should take place within a couple of weeks so we will have some all important figures for you all. anyway, back to the pics case will be getting the finnishing cut once the new cylinder is prepaird, not sure what the difference is in width of the transfer feeds and boost feeds from this one to the next one so ye, will do for initial testing wiht this barrel then a "finnished" build once the new barrel is completed.. this stay's super cool as it is with the electric pump (forgot to mention) also home made, so the timings could be made even more aggressive (its already pritty lively timing wise) now were using a digital programable ignition we can cheat a little power back in the bottom, altho the power will be pushed up via the clutch so the loss at low rpm isnt really a big deal, especially as were now going to be producing peak power at over 16000rpm rather than 13500 with the fixed ignition/poor performing round slide carb. im waffeling again.. will keep everyone posted
looks awesome. A fucken shit load of work gone in there, Very impressive Cases look good over the crank and nice tunnel porting into the transfers Have you thought about flow diverters in the intake
