As a few of you will already be aware, been having issues with Kerry. Keeps losing the spark and the only conclusion I can come to is a faulty stator/pickup. So bought a new one and flywheel only to find they sent me the wrong one, twice, and now I'm really struggling to find a new replacement. Now, my train of thought is this. If I'm struggling to find this part, new, not an ebay jobbie, how is any other potential owner going to get on? So, although I will keep battling on with this, I'm thinking it might be better to change the engine completely for a more part friendly one. Anyone have any conclusive info as to what would fit without too much hassle?
Its the suzuki engine. Morini. All the stators I can find have a 48mm bolt hole centres, this one has 40mm centres.
dont aprillia use that same motor? in the habanero or whatever its called? you know, the cruiser looking scooter thing?
could try shouting at it? have you tried that? i bet you havent tried that (he hasnt tried that) shouting works.... im all out of serious ideas now. also could it potentially be the ignition switch, sometimes the "fuzz up" over time, you know the moving copper bit? try just bypassing it to rule it out 100%
aprillia habana italjet torpedo (morrini not piaggio) piaggio NRG extreme DD50 I believe used the same engine, I know the torpedo does anyway.
nrg has the aircooled piaggio motor, but maybe there are some with the morini lump (early models maybe?)
The Mojito is actually called the Habanero in some markets e.g. the US), so you are both right. The Mojito does indeed have the Morini engine.
The time honoured rest break.?. - mine came yesterday, just in time to prevent me from f.....g the c90 carb (veery clean) out the living room window braining some poor bugger 3 floors down.cause I fudged fitting choke valve properly an was about to seriously lose it..
Well then, 5 1/2 months down the line and I found the problem with the lost spark I've had the last 2 weeks off so have just been able to get around to it. Turned out the wire from the pick-up had a break in it that only broke sometimes. Hence the lost spark. Wire replaced and nice strong spark. It still has an issue with not idling nicely, I've been playing with that all day. But it picks up nicely and pulls off very well, as long as you keep the tick-over higher than normal, which I'm not happy about........... I also fried the cdi in-advertantly, so had to replace that. But after sorting out the spark issue, and getting the jetting near normal, took it out for a little spin and..........................I've only gone and blown the friggin' piston innit!!!!! Damn thing bellied up and sucked wind. Rolled onto the drive and into the garage, done a compression test, 70psi. To say that I am now utterly pissed off with this is an understatement. I have another top end on the shelf, I think I'll stick it on, get it running again, and then e-bay the fucker. I'm done with it. I know I'm going to loose a bit of money on it with all the stuff I've done, but I no longer care.
oookay................just found that my mate gary has a running complete katana engine. And I noticed that it had an oil feed on the manifold as well.....................shot out to the garage and had a look at my original manifold...............no oil feed on it..............could it be????? And is it worth it?????????????????????????
