Hey, iv had around 12 hours of driving lessons. I'm insured on my corsa on a policy with my mum and dad. I want to go out and practice but my mum and dad cant be bothered to take me atm, but my brother will, hes over 21 and has had a license for over 3 years, so he can take me, but i dont know if he needs to be on the policy for that particular car? Im insured on it, and hes got fully comp on his car and mines fully comp so hes technically insured to drive the car, but not insured on the policy, anyone know whether i can go out with him or not thanks
im confused, would he even need to be insured at all iv read mixed things and they dont really make it clear tbh
your driving, if your insured to drive with a teacher (somone with a licence for 3 years over 21 obv) then he need not be insured on ANYTHING.. fuck somone that hasent driven for 40 years can do it.. if your caught speeding he gets just as many points tho usually
iv read many things, some people seem to think he wouldnt need to be. others say he would as he would need to be able to take control of car if needed etc. however, hes fully cmp so he can drive any car i guess, + i went out wit him anyway haha cheers
perfectly legal as minor said, as long as you are insured for the car as a learner then it's fine. the only condition is that someone 21 or over who has held their liscence for over 2 years sit by you like you say. the only thing is obviously he can't drive the car if he's not insured on it. It is 100% legal to do what you said though :rtfm:
lol instead of makin this long poast and waitin for answers i wud just call the insurance company but yes any1 with 3 years licence can teach u with out havin their name on your policy but u must have your policy under learners and have L plates and if you get caught speeding or anything else he will get charged as much as you do.
