powerjet is quite simple... when you have a geard bike, you full throttle and the jet has to compensate for every engine rpm (unlike wiht a scoot, where the transmision gets the engine spinning) when you have this condition you get one symptom, lean rich lean....

the jet will do this on a scooter to a point (usually lean out as you overrun the engine) a powerjet basicly allows you to jet it lean (for better bottom and middle) then once the air speed/velocity/whatever you want to call it in the carb are raised (as in, more rpm of the engine, more air going through the carb, faster) this then creates a difference... at this velocity the powerjet (fed from the float bowl) has a pressure difference across the top (the same as your main jet utilizes.. this is how it works) the "powerjet" is an EASIER way for the increased pressure in the bowl (air running through the carb creates) to squirt fuel out of..

put basicly, the powerjet is made to come in at a certian rpm, meaning you can full thorttle a geard bike, wihtout it being silly rich, and then going silly lean as you get up top. some powerjets are actually powered (have an electrical triger of some sort) the majority are just velocity based.

you can feed them from a seperate tank to act as a "secondary" main jet (also on the velocity basis but running along side the main jet rather than one or the other working)

i had a tzr 125 3cp2 (1990) with a power jet in,, power was all the way from 6.000 to 10.000 rpm
my rd 125 lc2 (1988) did not have a power jet and power was from 6.000 to 8.000 rpm

both bike's had the ypvs 125 engine's in

the tzr engine is shorter stroke than the rd/dt version of the ypvs engine.... this is why its more peeky...
