Hi guys. First off im new to this forum as you can see (Lol 1 Postcount)

Anyhow, im in dire need of help with this as its really frustrating.

    A few week back i bought a Suzuki AP50 1997 (P Reg)
And upon meeting the seller, it ran fine during the test run, so i went ahead and handed over 350GBP for it. (Now im starting to regret this)

the first 2 weeks of riding it. ran absolutely amazing didnt have one problem with it.
Then after a few week my speedometer stopped working. I wasnt exactly fussed cause i can get it fixed for like 10 GBP... but then i had bigger problems.

When i ride the bike it started cutting out randomly when i went past like 1/4 throttle.
It starts up fine... but wont go higher than 1/4 throttle. it just turns off.

Now i dont really know much about bikes... I just ride it Someone else maintains it.

However. id like to try and fix this myself.

It sometimes rides fine and will for around 10 miles... then just goes back to cutting out.

Its rather urgent as i need the bike to go to work and back on. Because it costs me alot in bus fairs and train fairs.

Thankyou In advance. hope you can help me.

I would take it to a shop rather than mess with it if I were you

why dont you start by taking off all the fairing to see if there are some wire exposed/chaffing on the frame or wherever

as you say it rides fine, you might have an electrical problem and could be a simple fix, you might be able to see the problem without all the plastics on

the engines are pretty basic, check you dont have a problem with the fuel or the pipes, ht cap and lead and compression.

after youv'e check all these basics and you still cant find the issue try and find a helpful forum member in your area to have a look for you before you take it to a bike shop..

sorry i cant be any more helpful, but this is just what i would do

THE CARB SHOULD HAVE A JUBILEE CLIP HOLDING IT ON
AND YOU CAN LEAVE MOST OF THE CABLES AND PIPES ATTACHED
OR IF YOU HAVE TO TAKE SOME OFF LABEL THEM UP
THERE PRETTY SIMPLE BUT IF YOU DONT FEEL CONFIDENT GET SOMEONE ELSE TO DO IT
OR FIND A MEMBER LOCALLY AND PAY THEN T HAVE A LOOK FOR YOU

NOT SURE IF IT SOUNDS LIKE THE CARB BUT IT WONT HURT

TAKE THE FAIRING OFF SO YOU CAN SEE EVERYTHING, LIKE I SAID YOU NAY SEE WHATS WRONG

heard this problem before, some people say its the stator. but it could be a bad earth, i would say give it to the bike shop because this doesnt sound like an easy job
