Hi Im new on this forum I have been biking/scootering for 30 years now and I reckon the roads today are in a worse condition than 30 years ago. There are far more potholes now and some of them are huge! I fell foul of one of these on a 600cc yamaha ,I was knocked out cold ,broke ribs ,collarbone etc and mullered my bike .I succesfully claimed a very decent amount of money from the local council . So If you are on your ped this winter and have an accident which was mr potholes fault here is how you go about getting paid out. 1. If police attend the scene or hospital and you make a statement be sure to mention the PH. 2.AS SOON AS POSSIBLE get pictures or video of the PH if it is safe to do so ,Including a picture with a measuring tape in it showing height width etc of Ph . 3. REPORT THE POTHOLE TO THE COUNCIL ...They usually have a website for you to do this. 4 .KEEP ALL RECEIPTS FOR WORK TO YOUR BIKE ,MOVING YOUR BIKE ,CRASH HELMET ,CLOTHES PRESCRITIONS,TAXI FARES TO WORK,SICK PAY, EVERTHING!! 5 .VISIT POTHOLES.CO.UK this site gives you an in depth guide .They will explain how to make the council give you ALL RECORDS CONCERNING YOUR PH AND ROAD ..for the last 2 years. Using the FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT. 6. EVEN THO THEY HAVE A BAD NAME ....Get a no win no fee solicitor Or if you can afford it use your own . 7. NO RUSSIANS!! dont expect instant cash {it took me a year } just remember there is more ways to skin a cat than pissing in its milk ! I hope you never have to do any of this but if you do I hope this helps .. cheers OZZ
