    Hi

Going to view a Speedfight 3 50cc tomorrow for my 16 yr old. The seller says it has been de-restricted and does about 45-50, and mentions new rollers. How easy will it be to restrict it again to be legal until he gets to 17 then he can play with it legally? How do you know what else has been done to it as the seller is not the first owner or will a top speed of 45-50 just be a roller change?

What else should I be checking on one of these?

    Thanks

    Gordon

Check for an aftermarket exhaust. The standard one will have a restriction washer welded into the throat of the exhaust where it meets the cylinder head. There may also be a tube in the silencer part of the exhaust that could have been removed. The carburettor will have been up-jetted to cope with the new exhaust and the bike may have lighter rollers in to aid acceleration.

My advice is to get a standard exhaust and main jet for the bike, as these will do most of the restriction work.
