i was just wondering wether i can grind these cassings down to get rid off the ledge (in the first picture) to be the same as the second picture or will this fuck it up? i belive the engine is one of the first piaggio lumps.
first pic is a 180.. second is a 125.. the 125 can be ground to take a 180 barrel the same as the original BUT the 180 case has to be FILLED to get it the samew as the 125. its the same case altho the 180 has this extra material taken out
damn so that means i can't use the 180 cassings for my 125/172 rebuild then!? so i need to get hold of some 125 cassings then. anyone got some? i have a set but im not sure if there warped so id rather get another set and work from there.
corse you can use the case for a 172 bartrel... just wont have any support for the skirt. will run fine altho the 180 case is lower compression due to this machining
ok so having no support for the skirt, will that mean it will crack easily under the stress of the engine? as il be running a malossi full circle crank and other mods will the lower compression seariously affect performace? if so ill just try and get hold of some 125 cassings. and i no this must be a regulary asked question to you minor but do you have any pics of slightly ported cassings?
Ye for scootershack helpin you out.. you can give something back to the community..a couple pics of your ported cylinder LOL
looking at one will not show tyou ANYTHING.. its .1mm differences between good power and poor power. read a book and get a vernier. dont need to see a ported barrel to know what you need to do, if you do need to see one you SHOULDENT be trying
