hello ppl , im already bored of the 172 unported , i no this has been brought up numerous times , but where can i get my engine ported and transmission to suit, setup correcttly. id rather let minnor do the port work but he is too busy as far as i no. any help appreciated.
LOOOOOOOOL i am pritty busy atm still... but i recon i can fit one or two jobs in... barrel only tho and setup will be a case of me doing it by ear when i refit the barrel... not gonna be cheap tho as you gotta match my overtime to make it worth it for me.. its orible dirty work and my job is clean now... up to you.. if not send the barrel to jb and bolt it on yourself... jus sketch a tamplate of the case so they can match it (mark it barrel and case on ether side obv) and then van it up for setup... jus get a quote on everything you plan bruv.. if its cheaper for me to do it then your quids in up to you.. jus remember its couple weeks min as im in the middle of some sickness in my spare time (wich is few an far between atm)
well how much am i lookin to match ur over time minnor because i would preffer to let u do it to be honest , but serriously if u dont have time to do it its not a problem. yes i will only need barrel doing.
get it done mate and make sure its by somebody that knows their business, MiNoR has a good rep so i would go with him, dont bother trying to save a few quid with someone unknown as it could bite you in the ass later. dont forget to polish the head its worth at least 0.00002hp but costs you nothing while its sitting there.
ive found once warm the polished head causes pre detonation as the fuel sticks and \returns back to liquid state, where heat ignites it at lower temps.. i 180 the head an leave it at that... any polishing in the exhaust/head are black after 100 miles so unless its a stricctly start and strip bike theres fuck all point for marginal gains. lively.. do you have the old barrel? can copy that or do sommin of my own as i know allen day did the engine orioginally and havent had the head off it.. last thing i want is to give your new bartrel back lower power than the first LMAO
yeh minor ill ring u, i do have the old barrel for u aswell. but do wat u want to the new barrel . i trust u thats why id rather let u do it. lol
interesting as mine is polished to fuck and i dont have any issues after 3000kms.... but i see what you mean abou tit going black thus no point in doing it!. how about increasing compression and gapping the plug?
yes, if its viable to do so.. the ideal compression ratio and plug gap need to be worked out for each application really but this isnt a "do this, get power" mod. its a running correction for the fuel used.
on a stock bike you get around a true 12bhp... with a few bits an bobs (carb and so on) your looking between 16-18 and if you have a decent pipe and a bit of luck with the setup you can get areound 23 out of an unported barrel. the power doesent last long tho (its about how much power at higher speeds as a 23 bhp isnt the same as any other 23bhp engine...) you can port a bike and the peak power remains the same altho the power lasts ALOT longer meaning its faster.. most of the time peak poiwer is gone by 30mph.
Well my geuss was around 14bhp for a untouched barrell. 23bhp from an unported barrell :w00t: Yes pleeeeeeaseeee unk:
i know its true but 14bhp from a standard 172 2 stroke sounds a little low. heck with porting and carb/exhaust on 172cc only hitting 23bhp, i have seen ported rs125's hitting 30bhp easily. whats the restriction?
an unported barrel with all the botl ons can make up to around 23bhp.. ported 172's have seen neer on 40bhp soimne powervalve conversions see close to 50 brake
ye, costs alot of money, needs weldiong on the transfer feeds and a bigger reed window aswel as a HEAVILY ported barrel that REALLY doesent like running for verry long and makes a hell of alot of heat. but yes i can do that if you can afford it LOL
