Hi I couldnt find any info on it. I want to polish the cover thing where my kick start is! can i strip the grey wrap stuff off it and start from there? the metal doesnt look great, looks all white and stuff! would I have to buy a new ally case and start from there, and if so how can i do it cheers
I take the case you're talking about is ali ,white on aluminium is a sign of oxidization (age/reaction to the elements). Rub in a little deeper/should start coming up,
There normally dipped, if your to go down to metal again, you will open up the elements and it will just corrode yet again..
i have polished mine and it dosent go horrible at all fast. infact mines been done a year and other then a polish now and then it looks cracking to polish it i used a poly wheel, plastic thing that goes on a drill to remove paint. most paint shops and diy places sell them. once all the grey paints off and you can see fresh metal its time to do the hard work, sand paper starting from a rough grade over the whole thing cant think of the number grades i used but dont go to rough. and make sure you dont leave deep scratches keep the paper flatish , then go down the grit levels until its starting to look smooth! i finished mine with a dremel accessory and some metal polish.
No pain no gain,1st time i polished an ali case, did'nt use right type specific polish+left residue (warm engine/case-was'nt pretty). .
