whats tht piece of plastic circled in red used for. my old standard reedblock didnt have and im wondering why my polini reedblock kit does? does it run faster without it or sumthin?? :wtf:
looks like a restriction to me, unless it matches your manifold, then it'll help smooth the gas flow.
its not a restrictor its a stuffer!!! according to the instructions you only use it with the polini manifold... minor...if you read this....do you use the stuffers or not???
i'vea heard of these, it's to keep velocity up in the reedblock, i've never actually seen one in the flesh though.
ther not very interesting to be honest wobbly. gonna take it out 2moz.. can u all av a look at my other thread in tuning section please..i need help with it.. thanks.! :w00t:
i have never tried it with it in seen it when was first putting reed block on and it went stright to the side but if mr minor comes along and says they are the dogs danglies will be finding it
if your running a stock manifold u need to keep it in, without it in u lose velocity like wobbly said, the atomised fuel does'nt have a direct path into the reedvalve does it . its allowed to go whereever in the reedvalve when it reaches the exit of the manifold.
i run them half an half depending on manifold.. if you use the straight manifold the exit hole is round thus matches this an keeps velocity up as stevo said.. also makes the entire inlet tract match. the stock manifold and reedblock are a perfect match tho BUT the area of the manifold is actually larger than the carb so any velocity based compression that was gained in the carb will be lost in the manifold.. this is what it corrects. use of a bigger carb or straight manifold matched to a square hole is the best option in most cases but some bikes (like abz's zip) ran this and wer verry fast. its NOT A RESTRICTION more volume of a less compressed gas is a waste of power. somtimes less actual volume of combustable mix in a compressed form is better. so ye your all still in the dark as to wether to use it or not but you know why you should/shouldent now so try it out for yourselves
ok minor...it said in the instructions to only use the stuffer if the polini (angled) manifold was being used.. and not to use the stuffer in the std (piaggio) manifold...so i never bothered useing mine
yup, the "angled" one is straight if you think about it.. stock is angled the straight is at a "pitch" where the carb will work
i am going to have a mess with bike soon so might put it in so what happens will post results people. :w00t:
if you look at this manifold...it looks like it comes with a stuffer.. https://www.pmtuning.co.uk/Merchant2/me ... =001RUNNER
yeah it does look like it comes with one. will let you know what it does dave so you might have to go find it imp:
just come in for a while because it is freezing and i could'nt find the stuffer thing but if i do will throw it on and let you know.
