not "clearly displaying an l plate" is the law.. so a dirty plate (at the coppers discression) coun ts as not having one.... so yes they can do one for failure to display an l plate if its that dirty....

all i know is, i got pulled a couple times in my old ends (mitcham/stretham/tooting/circle/sutton/croyden/blah blah) and it was always because i had no jacket, no gloves and trainers on... ive been pulled 3 times in my LIFE on a scoot... riding all round them ends.. christ your almost garanteed a pull in the circle if your on a scoot and seen by ANY copper...

wear boots/black trainers JEANS and a jacket.. wont ever get pulled "just to check your licence/insurance3" as its bullshit, they know your info befor they even stop you... as for "just making sure the vehicles not stolen" ask them if they have had a report from yourself about a stolen vehicle? the when they answer no tell them to go an check the guy in the convertable bmw, that COULD be stolen...

its bollocks.. they pull you to see if you have lent your bike to a m8 to run shop on... or just to generally check your not a criminal.. i can winge as much as i like about this as it IS little dickheads with no insurance/riding illegally/not stopping atall for the police thatsa branded scooter owners wiht this criminal visade..

but ye, keep legal, tell them (as nicely as possible) to stop wasting your time.
