am i right in thinking this is the exactly same crank as a bgm or pmtuning one, just cheeper? http://www.donotlink-pedstop.co.uk/p/GI ... -1163.aspx
i have just put a bgm crank in an engine and also a pm tuning one, just about to do another pm one ?they might be made in the same place but different centers(cnc) have been used, different machining techniques have been used on each crank (the way the tool approaches the work),the conrods are cast differently ?how do you know the quality of metal used ? just cause they look (which they dont)the same dont mean they are?how do you know the quality of the bearings used in each one ,you dont unless you split one and get em tested i have been working with metal for too many years to mention, and i can tell you without a doubt in my mind that the bgm and pm are made on different centers? i can back this up with pictures but its sunday night we have had a good weekend and i cant be arsed but i am sure i will tomorrow
ooo interesting.... so anyboy used the pm ones then as i need to order a crank tmoz and ive herd the pm ones beeing good..... yas an actual pm product thats good lol
i was always under the impression that PM used top-racing or mazzuchelli, or pretty much whatever they can get their hands on cheap.
pm used to use top racing (altho top racing are now diff) these all look like there made by the same people, BUT with diff materials as shinyy said. the castings of the web is identical as is the shape on the conrod altho its a diff colour meaning a diff material. the bearings are DEFFO different on the pm/bgm as the bgm dont have skanky rouch cut looking thrust washers ether side.. there is more of a chamfer on the bgm web and conrod.. im gonna grab a "top racing" one to check it out as for now ill stick with bgm for one simple reason
erm, ye hence the big sighn in the background... just MORE proof that pm take somthing, have it made as CHEAP as possible, then charge going rate for the GOOD part they copied... you gotta expect it from them.
looks like somone took it out incorrwectly tbh (try'd to pry it out the case like a GOON) all sweet now.. try'd the same wiht a bgm thismorning.. would have taken ALOT of force to move it.... didnt take all that much to put that one back in tho. more evidence of SHITTY old machinery used to make them.... they ARE ment to be the same, they look identical.. there REALLY REALLY not
they look identical.. hence i thought the same... on closer inspection and with a little "no minor, your wrong, look here" it comes to light there all just copying a good crank.. so ye. UNKNOWN bearings in the pm crank, so probably chineese/malaysian quality.. will find out, havent had a bgm crank fail in 4 years using them.. pm have been about what, 2 years? wont be long
im not going to name the shop as he may want to post himself he split a pm crank on tuesday to check out the bearings used and they are ok (he did say what they was but i forgot) the cranks aint made @ jasil but by motorforce or something like that
ye, motorforce, same CHEAP ASS place that make there barrels.... pure chineese quality (and it shows from the tooling marks) i will no longer be recomending pm as a replacment for bgm cranks... along wiht everything they "make" its just cheap shit they had copied in china... FACT
