Hi Guys, im new to all this scooter stuff, i bought mine purely to commute to work and back as it works out cheaper than the bus, well not long back a guy walked out in front of me, i swerved to miss him, it was wet and the bike went from under me and i came off, i snapped my throttle cable, bought a new one and got it fitted, at the time my electric start worked, as did my indicators and brake light, the bike was left sitting out side my friends for about a month while he got round to fixing it, now the horn, indicators, electric start and fuel gauge doesnt work, ive done some digging and found it may be the indicator relay? i have a V-Clic 50cc 4 stroke, where would the relay be located? any help would be greatly appreciated as i dont have the money to throw around to take it to a garage due to the time of year, thank you in advance Donna
Seems most modern 'peds have location in various places. I'd suggest either under seat, behind right panel or front panel- sorry could'nt be of more help, any pdf I dredged up was c..p.mk. .
under the floor panel, i may be confusuing it with another bike tho, but if i remember right iots under the floor panel with the battery
Can I ask why the indicator relay would stop the horn, indicators, electric start and fuel gauge from working? If it's been stood for a while it could simply be a flat battery or the accident could have damaged the ignition switch.
hey guys thanks for the replies, i have only just checked back, i don't know why it could be the flasher relay, i have just been told that its the flasher relay that controls the indicators and brake lights, which effects the electric start, as the electric start only works if the break light works or at least this is what i've been told
I bet that the switch has fallen out of the left-hand handlebar brake lever. There's a little grey cylindrical shaped switch with two wires attached, that fits into a hole on the left hand brake lever. This switch activates the starter relay and switches on the brake light too. if it's fallen out or one of the wires has come off, you get no brake light and no starter. I'd check that and compare it to the right-hand one first, as the plugs can fall out and the wires can disconnect themselves really easily - it wouldn't need much of a fall to make either of these happen and stop the bike from starting. It's quite a common problem on Peugeot scooters.
that actually makes sense as my mate had to take all that apart to fit the throttle cable so might not have put it together quite right, i'll have a look tomorrow, but again would that affect my indicators?
He has plugged the dash harness back in hasn't he? All of this is at the top end, behind the front panel. Horn, indicators, starter, fuel gauge. It's all on one loom. What part of the country are you in donna?
yeah he did i think as i wasnt there when he did it, he took a pic and sent it and the bike was pretty much stripped so yeah i reckon so and the fact that the throttle cable goes up that way then i'd deffo say so and im in manchester Steve
I wouldn't think that the indicator relay works all the other stuff as well, just checked and it's only a 3 pin connector. If it were to control anything else, i should think it would be a lot more connections. The flasher relay is behind the front panel, it's a bitch to get off as the two upper plastic forks tend to stick in their holes and it feels like you are going to break them off. I personally would have the front panel off the handlebars and check that the plugs are in the correct switches. That is, a two wire plug into the back of the starter switch, a three wire plug into the indicator switch, and so on. While the panel is off you can see the brake light switches going into the levers at the back; follow the wire to the connector, disconnect it, and using a split pin or piece of wire, bridge the connection at the main harness side. With the ignition switched on the brake light should come on. If it doesn't, check to see if the bulb has blown. Try the starter at the same time, doesn't matter if the light comes on or not with the connection bridged.
Hi Donna. Whereabouts are you in Manchester? I'm near the airport and if you aren't too far away, I could pop over and take a look at it for you. It sounds like whoever fitted the throttle cable hasn't reconnected everything. The indicators are probably unplugged from the loom and I still have the smart money on the brake lever switch having a wire missing or having fallen out of the lever housing.
aww thats really lovely thank you, i'm in chadderton so up to you, ive taken it apart and i really don't have a clue what im looking at or for lol
Can you take some photos tomorrow in daylight and let's see if we can spot anything obvious? The wiring connectors will be sort of square and have pins inside. They make then different sizes and shapes so you can't get them mixed up.
If you look where the brake levers pivot in their housing, you should see a little black or grey plastic part sticking out of a hole with wires attached. It will have a rubber cover over it but underneath looks like this:- There should be two wires attached to those terminals and the left hand brake lever (the back brake) normally has to be pulled in to get the starter to work. The starter works because this switch closes as you pull the brake lever and turns the brake light on as well as make the starter relay 'click'. If pulling the brake lever isn't lighting the back light or making the relay 'click', then you have either:- 1. A blown main fuse - this will be in a holder near the battery. 2. A wire has come off this switch - plug it back in. A blown fuse will also stop the indicators and horn from working as they run from the battery through the fuse, so check those too.
